Reception Time?

Reception Time?

The church ceremony (Full Mass) starts at 3pm. What time should the reception be? We really want to be at our cocktail hour. I am nervous about travel time because it is Labor Day weekend and I want to allow enough time for pictures.

Our hall allows us to schedule the reception at any time since, we are the only wedding they will be doing that day.

How far away is the hall fromt he church? Where are you taking pics? Are you taking them before?

The hall is 15-20 minutes from the church. I am not positive on where we are taking the pictures we are going to discuss that with the photographer when we do our casual day shoot next week. It will not be anywhere too far. I want to take pictures beforehand but FH doesn't so I am trying to figure out how to work this all out.

Re: Reception Time?

I would say to start at 630 or 7.

If you have a mass, and you actually start ontime, you won't be finished until 4, then you need to take pics outside the church, then your shots with DH and time will fly.

I went to a wedding on Saturday, it was supposed to start at 230 and didn't until a few minutes after 3. You want to make sure that you have enought time to take your pics. If youwind up having a little down time, take it

Our full mass starts at 3:30 and our cocktail hour starts at 7:00. I'm wishing I had another 1/2 hour in between so I think you should start yours at 7 as well since your mass is starting 1/2 earlier than ours.

Our church was at 3pm and our CH started at 7pm so I vote for 8pm because that's when mine started and I was able to attend my whole CH.

Sorry If I confused anyone but when I said Reception I meant Cocktail Hour.

This thread makes me feel so much better. My ceremony is at 3 and my CH starts at 7...didn't have any other choice. I thought I'd have too much time between the two but now I am happy! Thanks ladies!

Our Full mass was at 2:30. Our reception started at 7. We got all our pictures done in between and we enjoyed our party! My mom had little snacks and stuff at her house in between the church and reception for the guests who didn't live close by.

Re: Reception Time?

I would say 7 to be on the safe side never know if the mass is a little longer I know some of the priest in my parish will find something interesting in the mass and jsut start to talk about that my aunt had a full mass and when it came to the wedding part he went on for like 15 20 minutes about marriage beofre he started the marriage ceromony

Plus if you want to take pics at another location you need to give yourself time to get to these places and then back to the hall
