Reception timeline/Riviera

Reception timeline/Riviera

So, I was told recently that for our Sat. evening reception dinner is served at 10/10:30, which is much later than we wanted.

Our CH is from 7-8, Reception from 8-12. We wanted to front load the 'formal' dances, toasts, and dinner so that we have more time afterwards for dancing and drinking, etc.

Am I off base on this one? I was hoping for a timeline like this,
7-8 cocktail hr
805ish introduced/1st dance
8:10-8:25 dancing
8:30 Salad course served. Simultaneous with father/daughter, mother/son dances and toasts.
9 dinner served
9:45 cut cake
10-12 DANCING (and viennesse table set out)

Do you think they'll change things for us? I didn't even think to ask about this when we were booking.

The only thing that stands out IMO in your sked is the time between CH and intros/first dance. it takes a lot longer then 5 min for people to shuffle from the CH area, sit down and basically shut up before the DJ starts doing intros.

I would almost put the first dance/intros at 8:30 - which would push everything back.

Would that affect having dinner at 10?? ehh not too much but that might be what the riviera is thinking.

Totally just my opinion though - but thanks for bringing this up b/c i havent gotten up to this point yet w/ them so its good to know.

That's true, I didn't think about that point. I guess I'll just speak to them and see what they're thinking and try to work it out. Thanks.

Yea - no problem. I guess ask why they think 10pm for dinner - there just might be something they are thinking that you arent and it might help put your mind at ease.
