What do you think about having a vocalist sing during the recessional? We are using mostly contemporary music in our ceremony, so this wouldn't be the first break with tradition for the day, but I feel like it might be strange. Any opinions?

That is exactly what we are doing! We have a male vocalist singing during the Bridesmaid processional, and then the song will change to a female vocalist (both are friends) who will sing for my walk. They will be accompanied by a professional acoutstic guitarist.
It is different, which is why you may be doubting whether it is strange or not. I am an actress and a vocalist, and I assure you, if you 'stage' it correctly, it will be lovely!

I think thats a great idea! I was thinking about having someone sing during the processional..who cares if its breaking tradition? we need to do that once in awhile!

We are definitely having a vocalist during the men's processional, and then another vocalist during the ladies' processional. We are both actors/musicians, so it seemed like a natural fit to us. My mother suggested having someone sing as we make our exit at the end oft he ceremony. That's where I'm not sure. I guess I feel strange, b/c we'll have our backs to the singer and everyone will be watching us exit, so I'm not sure if it's weird to have someone singing at that point. What do you guys think?

we will also have singing at the recessional - a celebratory song, not neccesarily a performance, but background music to the flower tossing and the exiting.

Im a singer...and i think that having someone sing while the girls walk down will be very nice....since im assuming u are walking down the Canon in D on the Organ???

I think you should do whatever you feel comfy doing.
If only I could hire Van Halen to sing 'Hot for Teacher' during my recessional. Do you think they charge a lot for weddings?
