My dachshund has become very possessive/aggressive of his Kong. I've talked to some trainers and my vet about it. My dog is usually a WONDERFUL dog but letting this behavior continue can be risky. He's a dachshund and not so strong, but he could still hurt someone. He has been through basic obedience but now he needs a specialized training for aggression, probably private lessons. There are lots of trainers around, but I am looking for 2 things: I want to clique with the person and I want the price to be reasonable.
All suggestions are welcome, but please be sensitive to my feelings. I am very sad that my dog is acting this way and I've talked to some people who seem to be blaming me.

Re: recommend a dog trainer
Do you have a petsmart near you I know they have private lessons, maybe you can speak to a trainer there.

I haven't used these guys but we are planning on going to the doggie bootcamp one day. It's somewhere in Queens though.
Joseph Knapp...he trained two of my dogs. He is great. He is about $85 a lesson.

How can I get in touch with Joseph Knapp? We have not made a decision yet. My FH spoke to 2 trainers so far.

Re: recommend a dog trainer
My pup Sarge is having major Resource Guarding issues. My sweet little boy decided to bite me (and break the skin) when I tried taking a shoe away from him. Im really concerned about this as well, because it is very risky and only gets worse, not to mention he really hurt me. Im still trying to find someone out in Suffolk who can specifically help with this...
