We were supposed to be getting a DJ who was a friend of a friend, but that seems to have fallen through, so now we're in the market for a one. We only want a very basic package--no MC, no light shows, no giveaways, no 'personalities' (absolutely not.) We want someone who will play the music we like, the music we tell them to, and someone who will NOT even bother trying to talk us into a lot of the standard wedding songs and traditions. We want a dance party, not a 'reception.' There will be no garter toss, bouquet toss, announcing of the bridal party, no father/daughter or mother/son dances. We'll have a first dance, and that's it. Anyone have suggestions of someone I could contact? Because I thought we had this worked out, I haven't researched it at all, and now it's four months until the day and we don't have anyone! We don't have a lot of money to spend, either, and since we don't want any of the extras, that should be OK. I posted on the Vendors Helping Brides forum earlier today and got some responses, but I don't know anything about these guys.
wow it will cost you practicly nothing cause you dont want all those crazy extras good luck!!!!!!!!

We used high energy entertainment and they were awesome. They are a vendor on here and their prices are on their website.

high energy entertainment. I honestly have to say they can do that type of show. I booked them solely on the notion we don't want no insane stuff going on its a wedding not a club.

We are using Vinny from High Voltage. We met with him last week and really enjoyed talking to him. He doesn't try to sell you all the bells and whistles and has a very simple basic package. Good luck!

Vinny from High Voltage! He was excellent and I did not have any extras with him. Just the DJ. No MC, no give aways, no garter/bo-k toss. He was not on the mic at all except when he needed to be, and he played all the music I asked him to play. He was just great!!! And his prices are even better. Definitely worth meeting him, trust me! FM me if you have any questions.

Part of the reason I want to leave them out is my fiance's mother died on Thanksgiving, and I'd rather not throw it in his face by dancing with my father when he can't dance with his mother. Besides, my dad won't want to do a father/daughter dance anyway. It's just not him.

Thanks for all your responses, guys, it's been really helpful. I'm going to forward all this stuff to my fiance and let HIM choose someone. Hah!
