I love the Bridget Jones books, I laugh out loud. For more serious reading, I liked Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code a lot. If you REALLLY want a good, deep book, try The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. It's Russian lit, but it's very very cool and profound. Rolling Stones, Sympathy for the Devil, was actually based on it.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Nifenegger...its a bit scattered the first part of the book, but it all makes sense and its such a beautiful love story =) I actually think they're making a movie of it with the girl from the Notebook...
