I'm abroad right now but I'm coming home in 2 weeks and have only a few days to meet some DOCs. I have NO idea how to even start this. Could you please recommend your DOC ? Do i just call them up and meet with them. It's seems kinda hard finding someone to trust considering I don't have any way of knowing who's had good experiences with them or not. thanks soo much!

Yup, we used Ryan and she was fabulous! I couldn't recommend her more! She was so sweet, professional, trustworthy, helpful, and helped make our wedding day run so ridiculously smoothly and be the best day of our lives! 8 months ago today.
If you have any questions or want to hear some details on why she was so amazing, feel free to FM me!

I had a DOC even though there was a maitre d' and a BA at our RH. I know a lot of people farm out details to family, but my mom was still on dialysis at the time of our wedding and I didn't want to put extra pressure on her as far as the day went. My MOH and BM were both from OOT so they, too, really didn't know what was going on. I had all these little ideas in my head for how I wanted things to be set up and for how I wanted the day to go, and it's my nature to be the one to do everything myself! But on your wedding day, you shouldn't be worrying about if all the guests are happy and if every little detail you hoped for is going as planned. You should just be enjoying. So for me, hiring Ryan for a DOC was a no-brainer. It was a few hundred dollars (usually about $500 for the whole day, but sometimes there are specials and sometimes it's more or less depending on who you go with) -- basically the price of a few 'no's' -- I had peace of mind! You don't get to sit down with your maitre d' or BA before your wedding day and talk to them about what you want. They're great at their jobs, but they don't know you personally, and that really bugged me.
Ryan was fabulous. She showed up before my hair person came at 6 am and was there until after DH and I pulled off in our car service to go back to the hotel. I could go on and on about how amazing she is. I'd be happy to tell you more if you want.

i initially wanted a DOC but could not find it in my budget to pay extra for it. Usually they will run around $500 or more. I am confident that between my BA and my BM's and other family members i will have the help i need the day of and in preparation. good luck!!

SpringSandra you pretty much just sold me on it lol. I didnt realize that you dont usually get to sit down and plan the little things with the BA before the wedding. ALSO, im just like you in that i dont take anyones word for it and believe that if you want it done right, do it yourself. So in that instance i would only want to relinquish control over to someone highly recommended that i would trust.
Plus, im getting married at the Allegria which hasnt had the most stellar customer service reputation.
THANK YOU!

The Allegria is GORGEOUS! My dad just bought an apartment on the boardwalk in Long Beach that's just a few blocks from there. It's really a fabulous place!
I just wrote a huge long FM to the original poster (Sandy) about how amazing Ryan was and what she did for me as far as helping to make our wedding day run so incredibly smoothly and allow us to really enjoy ourselves. Everything from running back to the hotel to get the marriage license we'd left there (!!!!!) to fielding every single little inane flighty question my MIL had and usually bugs me with whenever we do anything! I had told the bridal manager that I don't eat red meat and that DH can't eat dairy but the maitre d' still made us plates of food (we had a huge buffet) that included things we couldn't eat -- while Ryan actually knew us and made us plates we could enjoy!
Our maitre d' was wonderful, but it didn't feel like a personal experience. Ryan made us feel like stars of our wedding day.
Having her come to the rehearsal the night before (since we were getting married at the RH, not a church) was honestly the best decision I ever made. Everyone got to know her in that intimate setting so the next afternoon for our wedding, they were already comfortable around her and knew who to go to with questions or concerns (rather than asking me!!). I am so happy about the decision to have a DOC. I honestly met with one person from the recommendation of girls on this site -- Ryan -- and booked her that day.
