There's a sale next week in Macy's. But we also went to Sleepy's and were thinking about Rockaway Bedding - but people say Macy's is probably the best. But they don't have as good a selection.
Please recommend a place! Thanks!
PS: we're getting a King - we like Stern's and Foster but willing to try others. Has to be pillowtop (DH wants one) and I want firm (can a bed be both pillowtop & firm?)

Re: Recommendation on where to by beds (poll)
We got ours at Bed Quarters. A top of the line pillowtop by Sealy. We were going to buy the floor model and paid for it. Well, by the time it was ready they accidentily sold it to someone else also, so we got a brand new one at the floor model price. They were so nice and friendly about their mistake.

Where is that? That was nice that they gave you the model price.

Don't laugh... but I've used 1800mattres (leave off the last s for savings... ) twice, and they were pretty good. I used them once for my apartment in Philly, and once when I lived in Bethpage.

Re: Recommendation on where to by beds (poll)
From some research I did when buying my Sterns and Foster (also a pillowtop) a couple months ago - Sterns and Foster has some kind of price fixing where no reseller can go below a certain price (Thomasville does this as well) - so you should get the same/similar deals on Sterns and Foster matresses no matter where you go. I went to Sleepys and Rockaway bedding but wound up buying from NC because I bought my whole bedroom set from them.
I got no customer service from Rockaway and Sleepys was horrible for me. They totally lied to us about things. I was almost ready to buy this most comfy gorgeous bed with a awesome warranty deal but still had questions. I went home did some research and found the mfg was out of business....that meant the warranty would be void - very rude that they failed to mention this. They lied abot a few things as well and I wnet to several Sleepy's. Buying a matress from these people were almost as bad a buying a new car - they were all snakes...

My family have been long time Sleepys customers, but personally I was never satisfied with them. I too had a better experience with 1800mattres.

My husband is the manager of Rockaway Bedding in East Meadow. His name is Rob. If you are looking for an honest salesperson who is easy to get along with and doesn't pressure you, then go to him. It's located on Hempstead Turnpike across the street from the big Home Depot. Tell him, his wife Stefanie sent you!

During Macy's last sale we bought our bed. We purchased a Sterns & Fosters. It is fantastic! The bed is great and the service at Macy's was great. The delivery guys were on time and quick. I would definately recommend them.
Oh and we picked out our mattress from Macy's Roosevelt field. The gentleman who helped us was older, very helpful & definately informative.

We just bought a bed yesterday from Sleepy's in Bayshore. The salesmen was very nice, and worked with our budget! We will have the bed on Sunday, so I can't tell you how comfortable it is yet. But I definately recommend Sleepy's. They have a great warranty on their beds too!

All I have to say, is Definately DO NOT buy anything from Rockaway Bedding. I had nothing but problems with them.
