Recommendations for a Bridal Shop
So far I have seen numerous postings for shops to stay away from......are there any that you recommend going to? (You would think that with the amount of $ you`re spending, they would all be great!) Thanks in advance!

Recommendations for a Bridal Shop
I used Lynbrook Bridal and they were good, but on the weekends, they are very busy and sometimes understaffed. My cousin used Bridal Reflections, and I have heard good things about them.

Recommendations for a Bridal Shop
I went to Michelle Roth in NYC. They are pricey - I spent $3200 after all was said and done. Their collection is great, but the alteratins department is awful. I chose them becasue I'd heard how great their service was and that was the one thing I didn't want to stress about. Well, that was the thing I stressed the most about. Most places you go will cater to you until you put money down. It's, for the most part, the awful truth. I also went to Kleinfelds in Brooklyn. They have a great selection and also have sample sales. I just don't know when they are. Another 'designer' place is Bridal Garden. They sell designer gowns that have been used in fashion shows and as display at discount prices.

I had a great experience with Paradise Bridal in Patchogue. Mary helped me, and she was pleasant. I found a dress that I wanted from the internet and they called the designer to have it shipped to their store - plus they even discounted it. I highly recommend it. I live in Nassau County and I drove the hour just to do business there! :-)

I was planning on checking out Saymel''s in Astoria, Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, and maybe the bridal salon in Macy''s in Manhasset. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with any of these places?

I went to Macy's which was really nice. Large selection, dresses from about $800-$2000 that I remember. I also went to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa, which was also very nice. Carle Place has more expensive dresses then Massapequa.

Saymels
I didn`t have a great experience with them. They`re by my house, so I went there first. They were rude to me when I didn`t choose a dress right away and told me to come back when I know what I wanted. Hello! A few months later, my mom went to look for dresses and again, when she didn`t pick something right away they were rude to us. All of my mom`s friends rave about Saymels, so we may have just been unlucky. They have a pretty wide selection of dresses and their prices are good. My expectation of a bridal salon was different that what Saymel`s offered. I wanted to go in and have someone not only give me what I had picked, but also make suggestions on what type of dress would look best on me. I got that at Michelle Roth. The consultant who helped me was fantastic. She looked at the pictures I`d taked with me, looked at my body and pulled six dresses. She didn`t ask me what I thought about any of them, just pulled them. The first dress she asked me to try on was the one. I would never have picked it from looking at it on the hanger, and a year after my wedding I have yet to see any picture of it or anything like it, but it was perfect for my body type. My gripe with them was that their alterations department was rude. If you want to get ideas, but can resist buying there, I would go and try some dresses on. Ask for Cathy.

Macy's Manhasset
I thought they were expensive. The same dress at Paradise bridal was $1000 less!

I bought my dress at the Wedding Salon in Manhasset [DO NOT CONFUSE WITH BRIDAL COUTURE- THEY HAVE MANY COMPLAINTS IN THE BBB}. Rosemary was great (ask for her). I would also recommend Theresa from Priscilla's of Boston in Roslyn Heights.

Recommendations for a Bridal Shop
I got my dress from Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. I ordered it in May, and I would guess it'll be in soon (they said 4-6 months). I have no complaints so far, and was very pleased with my experiences so far. I called on a Friday afternoon, and asked for an appointment the very next day - it was no problem. They asked me if I had a particular dress in mind, and when I said I did, she checked her computer and said it wasn't in their store, but when I got there the next day, it would be ready for me to try on. It was (I think it came from their Massapequa store). I came in armed with about 10 pictures, and the girl helping me was fantastic (Kim). After deciding the dress I came in to look at wasn't right for me, she went out and came back with 5 dresses, all which were my tastes and I could have easily gotten any one of them. I decided on a dress that very day, but wanted to think it over for the weekend. She was very nice and didn't lose interest. It was more than I wanted to spend, but in the end, I went back the following week, tried it on again and put down my deposit then. It was exciting to say the least. I can't report more now, but I'll let folks know when it comes in and how alterations go.

Recommendations for a Bridal Shop
I ordered mine in April from Lynbrook Bridal. I agree with Mini that at times they are busy and under staffed. I got my dress early on a weekday morning. I got my bridesmaids dresses there as well. The first time we all went there on a Thursday evening they were packed so we left and came back on a quieter day. I went to Lillettes today to get fitted for a bridesmaid dress and the service was great. They seem to have a large selection of wedding gowns as well.

Lillette's
Another cousin used Lillette's in Baldwin. They were good, but also extremely busy! I remember they insisted that I get a larger size (despite my insisting on the smaller one) which then required significant alterations! In the end, they did a good job on all of the dresses, but they were still working on one girl's dress (who was pregnant at the time)the night before the wedding! In fairness, it is difficult to avoid that sort of thing with a tummy that's constantly changing size and shape! :)

Bridal Reflections in Carle Place
Soooo helpful and will help with prices in some cases if need be.... I'm actually about to post about a dress dilemma I'm having :-) - and part of the dilemma is that I reall want to buy a dress from them just to work with them - but I'm torn between a dress there and one in AZ (where my parents are from) Good luck! Oh - and work with Patty there - she's amazing!

Paradise Bridals-Patchogue
I'm ordering my dress (Paloma Blanca),headpiece and veil here next week. I'm also getting my BM dresses here (Wtoo). The groomsmen will get their tuxes here, but my fiance is buying his elsewhere. They have been wonderful so far, and very patient! I've been in a few times to look at the BM dresses (with several different people trying the dresses on). They have a great selection ranging in prices. Continued success!

Bridal Suite in Bay Shore
I live in Queens, but went all the way to Bay Shore to look and they were so great...VERY attentive. I bought the dress I saw in the magazine, but insisted that I try on others to be sure. They pinned the dresses to make them look like a great fit. Always had a perfect headpiece to match. They were just as great when I came back with my sister for bm dresses. But I don't know how they will do with alterations yet. But from what I hear from others - great!Welcome New Vendors
