Recommendations for a plumber are needed ...

We are going to put a second heating zone in our house, since upstairs is always much colder than the middle floor.

Does anyone know of any reputable plumbers?

Thanks!

We just used B&R plumbing. They are located in Nesconset. 631-580-7500. We were referred to them by a friend.

We used Sal Manzo Plumbing in Wantagh for a basic plumbing problem. Im think of calling them to check our very noisy heat. They were were very good, on time, clean and nice guys.

We were considering the same thing but also knew our insulation needed to be upgraded and we checked that first.

We found that there was NO insulation between much of the drywall and exterior walls upstairs - should have guessed considering the quality of work the previous owners had done on the house. The engineer had pointed out some of this, but it wasn't until the insulation guys cut a hole in the roof to install the fan that we found out just how bad it was - nothing but drywall between the ceiling and the roof. No wonder it was as low as 53º in our bedroom last winter!

We used a company called JC Homecare (631-756-5600). They do a blow-in cellulose insulation. They offer a guarantee that is for your lifetime ownership, transferable to the next purchaser, and they'll come back in the winter with an infra-red device to measure for any possible settling and heat loss, then fill in if necessary.

We ended up spending about the same as the plumber's quote, to have the insulation in the upstairs and the converted garage done, and figure we'll save on the oil in the long run. The temps in the treated rooms are staying within a degree or two of whatever our thermostat is set at. We're pretty happy with that considering they are the most outlaying areas, and the thermostat is smack-dab in the center of the house, over a heat register (what idiot put it there???)
