I've been talking with my travel agent about going to Moorea which is absolutely breath taking (from what I've seen). But it's going to be too much over my budget. The plane tickets alone are $2,000/pp.
I'm setting aside $7,000 for bottom line/total expense. About $2,000 of that is for spending money...that leaves about $5,000 for hotel + airfare. We would like to stay at least 8 nights.
I wanted somewhere that had really nice beaches cuz we love to soak up the sun, but also had lots of other things to do like sightseeing, hiking, biking (we're pretty active ppl too). We prefer not to do an all inclusive resort bc we feel like we would be tied down too much in order to get our money's worth.
I don't want a location that is too city like (hawaii for example...my travel agent said that there are a ton of malls there and large building, lots of ppl, etc.)
Since we like to walk around a lot, it's got to be a place that isn't too dangerous (I heard Jamaica was nice, but dangerous)
And one other thing...I've already been to st. thomas (in the USVI) and mexico and would like to go somewhere different.
if anyone has any suggestions, please help!
TIA

Re: Recommendations for Honeymoon PLEASE
Did you think about a cruise? The Southern Caribbean cruises go to Aruba, Curcao and Barbados and lots of other amazing places- there are amazing excursions on all the islands and its really nice to see so much on one trip

I would rec either Costa Rica or Belize. We are going to Belize and you can (in both places) do reef and jungle trips where you spend a few days on the coast an a few days inland. There are plenty of things to do in both countries that aren't the typical 'island tours'
Belize sounds interesting too...did you use a travel agent to help you out? if so which one?

we did the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia and absolutely loved it!! It's a very lush island..SO beautiful! and you can't beat all inclusive...the only thing we paid for the entire vacay were our souveniers definetly look into it..we had such a great time :) i've heard excellent things about the Divi resorts in Aruba as well. also all-inclusive.
I havent looked too seriously into exact details of my HM yet, but I think we're going with Regency St Lucia as well

Would you consider Paradise Island? Bahamas????
Me and FH are doing that, and we paid under $4,000 for 5 nights and 6 days.
I've thought about it, but although the beaches are beautiful, they don't seem to have a lot of stunning sights...correct me if I'm wrong please...

youre right, paradise island itself is very nice but to go explore more outside theres not like tons of stunning sights. Only by the resorts is it really nice then the towns are these real small areas with not much around. If you want to stay just at paradise island its great but if you want to explore more then maybe not. Bahamas is beautiful dont get me wrong but i think you might be looking for something even more

We did not use a travel agent. SO far I have only booked my flight...which was 150 pp for RT.....yep 150. We are staying on Ambergris Caye for 9 nights and from there you can take day trips to see Mayan ruins so cave tours, you can scuba or snorkel and there is even a casino in the town of San Pedro. San Pedro is a small town...you get around my golf carts.....safe so you can go shopping and different restaurants. I would not do all inclusive here....too much to see outside of your hotel. I have been researching Belize for years now because it is my dream vacation.

I have been to many of the carribean islands and if you are looking for something kind of south pacificy but without the Pricetag.....then I would stay away from the typical honeymoon islands....go to ambergriscaye.com and you can look at the Belize hotels
