what does the catering hall get if we use their recommended vendors? Why would we benifit from using them? Can someone explain?

Sometimes you get a discount like per table for flowers. I think Westbury Manor gave $10 off if you used their florist. Not sure of any other kinds though

Not sure. Most of the time the vendor pays the catering hall to be a preferred vendor. This may mean it costs you more.

i think its just vendors that work closely with the hall. we went to one photographer recommended by our hall and there was no discount that we could see....

Catering hall gets a kickback from the vendor - like 10% of your bill with them is common. Sometimes they have to pay a flat fee every year as well. They get so much business from the recommendations that it is worth it to them. You are often offered a discount if you go with them, but most vendors negotiate with anyone who asks.
The benefit is that these vendors work at your hall a lot so they know who to talk to, how to set up, etc. You still need to do your research and check BBB, but it is likely they will be ok. I would always hire a vendor recommended by family and friends first!

most halls get a kickback if you say that you were reccomended to the vendor from your hall.
