I love the 'String Quartet Tribute to...' CDs that take recent songs and recompose them for String Quartet. Covers include of Beatles, Coldplay, etc. Was thinking of playing that during the ceremony instead of hiring a string quartet... Is that cheesy? Anyone used recorded music during the ceremony?

Re: Recorded Music for Ceremony
As long as he has a high quality sound system (I'm sure he does) then it will sound great. I think recorded music only sounds cheesy when it is coming from a lone boom box.

Yeah I wasn't planning on doing it unless the place had the right acoustics for it. I've just never seen it done - wasn't sure if it was a common thing... Thanks for the feedback so far.

Re: Recorded Music for Ceremony
Much to my family's dismay (they just hate breaking traditions!) I want to try to play a recorded version of 'Songbird' (this one's from the Love Actually soundtrack) when I walk in. But I want to contact my bm at Jericho Terrace and see if they'll let me try out the acoustics first. If they won't, I'll just forget it. Don't want to take chances with that part of the wedding!

Re: Recorded Music for Ceremony
We're doing recorded music for the ceremony and I do feel a little weird about it. I'm definitely going to speak with my DJ though to find out EXACTLY how they set it up because it would be so ghetto if they just show up with a boom box. The main reason we're doing recorded music is that I'm walking down the aisle to Ava Maria which is a very difficult song to sing IMO and I worried about finding a singer good enough and I didn't want to walk to only an instrumental version.

i also plan on just having a recorded song. it's going to be a half hour so i really don't want to shell out the cash for it. i'm just not sure what to use yet. any ideas? and how do you go about it? bring in a radio?

Re: Recorded Music for Ceremony
I am having some different songs for the ceremony, and I have no problem with the recorded music. Just let yourself be comfortable with it, and if you want, talk to your DJ about the setup, volume, etc...
