I went to a wedding last saturday while I was home in Rochester. I was really excited because it was at the same place I was having my reception.
OMG I was horrified. It was horrible. The food ******: the pasta tasted like the meat was bad that was in it, the baked chicken was dry, the carved beef was sliced like lunch meat, and the rolls were stale. Not only did the fod suck but the layout was horrible. When I went to look at the hall it wasnt set up so I ddnt get to see what it would look like. We were sitting towards the back of the hall and you couldnt hear the DJ it was all muffled, and they had a slide show and you couldnt see anything. The hall was long and narrow.
This was by far the worst wedding I have ever been to. It took 2 hours to get through dinner and they didnt even start dancing until about 9pm, and you can only stay at the hall until 11pm. It was awful.
We cancelled and lost our $400 deposit but I dont even care it was so bad.
We rebooked at another place by a lake in rochester that my dad recently went to a wedding at.
Im so glad we went to this wedding or i think my wedding really would have blown a$$.

400 is not that bad to lose, if it ws 4000 that would have been bad. But good for you that you changed it bec you wouldnt want your wedd to turn out bad.

Good thing that you went to that wedding and with enough time to rebook for the same day somewhere else.

I agree. I'm glad you were able to change things! You should tell the hall why you cancelled so maybe they can change things for other future brides....

wow that's awful! but you shouldn;t have to lose your deposit because they have plenty of time to rebook. if they rebook it you should be able to get the $400...but like you said...$400 is a small price to pay to be sure your wedding doesn't suck.

I know we asked about getting the deposit back if they book the date and the lady said no its non refundable. I wonder if there is a law about this???
Anyone know who I could call to find out?

omg!! good thing you went to a wedding there and found out now...it's never happy to loose out on money, but that's a cheap price to pay, knowing how it would have been if you'd stayed w them.
glad you found a better hall!!
