Red for July?

Hello Ladies,

I went out shopping for the bridesmaid dresses today with my sister. This is only day two of the dress shopping but I found a great dress in Bayshore Bridal. I was wondering about the color of the dresses. The sample dress was in the color red. The question - Can you have your bridesmaids wear the color red in July? Everyone in the store was telling me that I can do whatever I want but I usually associated red with winter weddings. My second choice was going to be a blue color. I just don't want to violate any wedding rules. What do you ladies think? Red in July???

Red, White and Blue in July, especially the fourth! :o)

I don't believe any rules on bridesmaids dresses, except that they shouldn't wear white. Red is fine if you like it!

definetely!! besides the fact that anything goes-red has to do with the 4th of JULY makes sense to me!

I don't see why not. I am a bm in May and our dresses are apple red.

I think red is perfect for July, it is a very festive, celebratory color!
I don't automatically associate red with winter unless it islike red velvet or a red gown with a fur color etc.

P.S. Red is beautiful for July, but I DO NOT like red, white & blue for a wedding. While I applaud patriotism and love celebrating the 4th of July, I do not think it makes for an elegant wedding.

Red is fine. Those are cruise colors red, blue and white

I was going to have a claret red for my fourth of July wedding but I decided to go with the bordeaux which is a cross between dark red and wine... I wanted a light color but some of my girls tan darker then others so I didn't want anyone to look washed out.

Thank you ladies for all of your comments. I guess there are really no 'rules' when it comes to bridesmaid’s dresses. I really can't go with the red white and blue since I am a social studies teacher. I might be pushing the patriotic stuff a little too far!

For my 4th of July wedding 2 girls wore claret red & 2 wore sapphire blue. Do what makes you & them happy.... remember they are wearing the dresses!

I'm having red BM dresses for my August wedding. At first I had the same concern, that it is more of a fall/winter color, but I've seen so many summer wedding pics with red dresses and it looks fine. Just make sure that the flowers look summery.

I LOVED it, cosidering red is my favorite color
