Red vest for groom's tux....?

Red vest for groom's tux....?

girls, what are your thoughts on this? I haven't picked BM dresses yet but red was a possibility but then i think that might be like 'wow, that's a whole lotta red!'

If he does go this route, what color bm dresses would work with that (or maybe a better question would be - what colors would NOT work with that)? Should I steer him on another direction (his other choice is silver/grey)?

Anyone's FH doing a colorful vest?

I really don't care for the colorful vests. Fh wouldn't wear one anyway. he is wearing a gray/silver tie and is debating about the vest. I would only have liked gray or black though.

I really dislike it when men in tuxes take their jackets off when they have that unfinished vest so if he wants to take his jacket off at any point - no vest for him. I hope he keeps the jacket on all night though - otherwise he will look like the waiter.
It is included with the tux so he will take it and decide later.

I can only say htis 'please dont do that to the groom'

I saw a groom trying on apple red tonight with his groomsmen and when he asked how he looked alot of customers were silent.
I guess it depends on the shade of red though.

I don't want to tell him what to do but HE was the one that just brought me the picture and said he liked it!!!! I didn't really know what to say except 'I have to see it on honey.....' I personally think it would be a bit much but one thing is certain - FH will ABSOLUTELY rip his jacket off the second he can do so without being scolded. : (

So you think no silver vest and tie or no vest at all?

p.s. - he was looking at the AfterHours catalogue. afterhours.com

The silver is pretty..thats the combo we chose for FH dad.
Its a pewter silver with blackish grey.
It was really pretty.

I like the fact that your fh wants to be alive during the ceremony. I personally don't care what color my Fh comes in so long as he is by my side Tell him to go for it!!!!!

My BM dresses are apple red. The GMs will be wearing silver vests. Fi will be wearing an ivory vest to match me...

Suven.
You have the color combos I wanted by my tux guy talked me out of it.

i wanted Fh to wear Ivory vest like my dress and the guys in platinum..The owner said he didnt like the combo together that it worked best with white shirts and white wedding gowns...when they came out I had to agree so I changed them to full blackand ivory and Fh in ivoryvest and black tux.

Did you stand them next to each other..I was so anal today ..they prob. hate me

No, we didn't stand them next to each other. I just HATED the idea of the guys in red vests. And, my fi wants to STAND OUT from his GMs. But, I think that fi is getting an ivory shirt with the ivory vest.

It's not too late to change it, so maybe I'll go in with some color swatches...

yikes! This is making me realize how much i have not thought about this at all! FH and I are going to try on his tux options tomorrow night. What else do I need to do/think about/ask while we are there? I am kinda nervous now.....

the colored vests are not so attractive. but if the guy is a real stud, he can pull it off
