Redid my DIY programs, what do you think? (w/ pics)

Original post by Aug07OFCbride

Hey Girls-
I redid our programs, wasn't crazy about font and layout of the first try. This is just a mock up, havent printed all of them out yet. Feel free to give any suggestions or point out any mistakes/typos. Also, what ribbon do you like better...polka dot or plain blue? TIA!

I think they look fantastic!! They really came out great. Did you do these in Word? Or a publisher-type of program?

I actually like the iridescent ribbon better. I think it compliments the blue tones you have on the programs. The poka dot is just too heavy in my opinion.

I love the polka dot ribbon! Beautiful work!

And because I'm an English teacher I feel obliged to point out one error I found - in the poem at the end it says 'now all we have is memories,' but it should say 'now all we have are memories,' since memories is plural.

I hope my programs come out half as nicely as yours, though. Lovely!

I bought a large pack of 8 X 12 ivory cardstock at office max...they have a pretty nice selection of different colors.

jess, they're beautiful! you did a fab job! i hope mine come out half a decent when i actually get down to coming up with them.

this is just a question about programs in general, but is it customary to write out the readings? i've been to a bunch of weddings, but i guess i've never paid attention to what's in the program

No problem! the fonts are Zapfino and Goudy Old Style (italic) and the readings are actually in one of the pics...

two of our favorites

1 John 4: 7-12
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Colossians 3:12-17
“Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

nope, probably not customary... BUT we really love the meaning and message of those verses and wanted to share them with the guests in this way so that they can take the time to read along or read them at another time if they want. i mean i dont think most ppl really remember the readings after theyve been read any other way. our faith is really important to us, its what brought us together so we want to share a piece of that with the guests, if that makes any sense.
