If you bought it from the salon in Manhattan they should have given you a gift certificate to Madame Paulette, they have been in business for many years and I am pretty sure they are pricey, but considering how much you spent on the dress it is worth it.

Re: Reem Acra Brides...
I lived around the corner from Madame Paulette's and when I called and asked about cleaning, etc.- they told me it STARTED at 500...
Anyway- since my dress was still on LI- my mom took care of it for me-- I can ask where she had it done- but it was like half the price..

Whoa!!!! $500!!! I think anything that has the word wedding or bride associated with it is automatically ridiculously expensive.

I definitely see your point but once I saw a fashion documentary and they showed some of the top museum quality fabric preservationists. I couldn't BELIEVE the amount of time and energy that went into cleaning, repairing, and preserving a gown.
They showed this one gown that took DOZENS of hours to fix. I have a new respect for the prices - even though I am not a Reem bride, I am wearing an unbelievably ornate gown too.
I shudder to think of THOSE cleaning costs.

Re: Reem Acra Brides...
I had my initial cleaning and alterations done at Madame Paulette (my gown was a sample, the cleaning was about $400 in 2003) but I had my gown cleaned and preserved locally in Brooklyn. I don't know what it cost exactly because my mom paid for it but I know that it was a fraction of what MP would charge.
