Reference questions suggestions

So I wrote to my fav. photog to ask for references from previous brides. Because she's not so well-known to you lovely LIW girls, I need someone to vouch for them.

I want to be prepared with my questions so I'm opening it up to you ladies.

What do you suggest I ask?

I'd ask how satisfied they were with their proofs and albums..... is there anything they would change about their proofs/albums? ask for all positive and negative feedback.... you might ask if they felt the photographer really captured all of the important moments of the day... how many proofs they received... how long everything took to get back...

that's all i could think of for now! HTH

Were they on time? Were they professional? Do you think the price was reasonable for the amount of pics received/taken? Did they stay the whole time?

Can't think of anything else. Post above me pretty much took care of it.

I would ask if they could do their wedding all over again would they hire the same photographer. Then find out why or why not.

In all honesty, the people they are going to give you are obviously people who they know are going to give good recommendations. I would ask, what is one thing that you would change or make better? How could they improve? Things like that!

i agree w. all of them! :)

also flip through some of the photo albums they have in the studio as well as portraits and websites so u get a feel for their work and photography, also make a post w/ the photographer name, and im sure people will respond if theyve used them & how good/satisfied they were....

hth!

Re: Reference questions suggestions

Update****

So I sent out an e-mail to a few of the references they provided me with last night. This morning I got what I consider to be a very RUDE response.

The woman wrote back that the questions I asked were too detailed and she didn't have time for that kind of review. Just that they were great and she wishes me all the best.

I asked 5 questions (posted below)!

I just think that's a horrible recommendation. I know it's not the photographers fault but should I be worried that this is a person that's supposed to be vouching for them.

I suppose I'm used to you ladies being so helpful. I'm really shocked.

Here are the questions btw.

Did they meet all the contractual obligations? i.e. provided you with all proofs, worked hours agreed to, charge any additional fees not discussed.

Were they prompt day of and not invasive during the ceremony and throughout the day?

Did they take the pictures that you specifically requested in advance?

Was their style flexible to allow for both formal portraits and creative coverage?

Approximately how many proofs did you receive?

What could've been improved about their service?

That's incredible! 4 out of those 5 questions were yes or no questions. What a rude person!!!

Hopefully, the other references you contact will be better.

Good luck!

Re: Reference questions suggestions

That was rude. Why would someone respond that way??

That's just wrong. Sorry.
