I plan on making a lump sum donation - somewhere between $500 to $1000 (depending on our budget at the time). I do not plan on telling guests how much we donated, just that a donation has been made.

We donated to the American Cancer society.
It all really depends on what you feel comfortable with, we gave $500. If you can afford to give more, that is great. But keep in mind whatever you give it's going to a good place. Good luck!

also remember that if you itemize your taxes, your donation is tax deductible (which is why FH and i will most likely give more $$)

I read an article that said you should donate about $2 per guest.
