Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

Has anyone stayed there? How would you compare it to Palmilla or Las Ventanas? When is Cabo, can you eat at the other resorts? So many questions!! I'd appreciate any help!

We were originally going to go to Cabo San Lucas for our honeymoon... but decided against it... too many time shares... too commercial. If I were you I would check loneyplanet.com

There are some great travel tips on those message boards... you might want to look into renting a villa... it ends up being cheaper... and it's much more romantic (just my advice)...

We went to Cabo on our last vacation...it was amazing! So relaxing, so calm...yes, we did the obligatory time share tour - didn't buy but it was worth it! We got all of our activities for like $100 total for the 2 of us: snorkelling, para sailing, and a pirate ship cruise...there were others to choose from.

We stayed at the Finnisterra....it was soooooo nice... we didn't eat at any of the other resorts, except for the time share tour (we had brunch that was part of the tour) but there were so many restaurants on the strip. I loved it!

Re: Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

I'm looking into booking Cabo for my HM
Have had many friends stay at the Westin, and it's absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!! I was looking into either the Westin- or the Melia Spa& Resort.

I think you can eat anywhere when you go.
I had a co-worker go here for her HM last year and said it was the best decision she made!!! Her pictures are amazing - and it sounds like she had a blast!

(Mind you, my first choice would be Hawaii & 2nd Aruba-- but now, I'm thrilled to be investigating Cabo. )

Let me know if you find out anything- and I'll do the same.
I've got to mexico.com etc.. and reading up on it

Re: Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

I've been to Cabo twice in the last few months - once on a romantic trip with my husband and once on a party trip with my sisters.

Location is key - depending on what you're looking for. The second time around, we stayed within walking distance to town, and right on the main beach (at Melia San Lucas). It was extremely convenient and a gorgeous hotel. The time before we were up in the corridor and it was annoying to get to the beach, restaurants, etc (unless you wanted to shell out $40/day in taxi rides).

San Jose del Cabo is a sleepy town, but has some gorgeous resorts that you never have to leave. But if you're looking for something more active, you're better off in Cabo San Lucas.

That's one of the places I got quotes from for our HM... would you recommend it for a honeymoon? Have you been to the Westin? We can't decide if we'd rather stay at the Westin w/ no all inclusive... or have the option of all inclusive and stay at the Melia? We want a really nice hotel. If we had the loot- I'd love to stay at Las Ventanas- Oh my is that nice

Re: Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

there are a couple Melia's in the area. This is the only one in Cabo San Lucas - the other two are up the corridor in San Jose del Cabo, so just make sure which you're looking at. They're all very nice, and would be wonderful for a honeymoon - I just had a regular room but I imagine the suites must be lovely.

We didn't have an all inclusive package, and personally, I don't like them. Whether or not you go with one will probably depend on your location. If you're near town, you're better off going for dinner in town rather than at the hotel. Also, you probably won't be around for lunch at the hotel much. We ate ALOT at The Office and the Mango Deck (both at Medano beach). Also, there's a fabulous sushi place in town, and the Fish House is great (and romantic).

Thanks lisat...
It's the Melia San Lucas Spa & Resort- looks just like your pictures!
We liked the all inclusive not mainly for the food (breakfast and lunch maybe...) but for the unlimited drinks. Sad to say, we like to drink A LOT on vacation (Maybe I shouldn't share w/ everyone what lushes we are!!!)

we're just like you - but we hit up the two for one all day happy hours along the beach!

hee hee!
Thanks!!! Didn't know that existed
Have you seen the Westin?
Where did you stay on your romantic trip?

Re: Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

I don't remember seeing the Westin - the hotels are set back off the road, so they're hard to spot.

We stayed at Misiones del Cabo, which was great cause we had our own private jacuzzi on the balcony (which I highly recommend). We'd come home every night and hop in, watch the stars and hear the waves crashing below. But the place itself wasn't anything special (its a condo resort) and the location made it tough to get to town (as mentioned above). We hardly spent any time there at all.

Re: Regina Westin in Cabo San Lucas?

gotcha.. FH was looking for the jacuzzi in the room.. but don't know if we're going to have it if we stay at the Westin. A few places have it though, but they sound very secluded.
thanks for all the tips
