Macy's gives you a percentage of the stuff purchased off your registry, but IMO they're more expensive than BBB

Most stores give a completion discount

It depends on what you need....

We lived together for a while, so we didn't need much. We got new everyday bone china dishes, knives, towels....but not much else

We had a Macy's registry since they give you a completion discount and a percentage back of the money spent on your registry after your reding if y have a Macy's card. So we got like another $85 bucks to sound eir just by having our registry there

We also had a lot of yngrr friends...not huge families on either side. So we made an Amazon registry, and that was really popular with our friends. We registered for things from coffee K cups to a drill. I think people under 35 or so love Amazon....so it was more popular than I would have thought

Since we didn't need a lot, we also did a Honeymoon registry

Other popular registries are:

Bed, Bath, and Beyond. You can typically return gifts for cash there.
Crate and Barrell
Honeyfund.com

Or you can do a universal registry like myregistry.com

You have to have a Macy's card, and I believe its credit on your account towards future purchases

They send you a gift card to Macy's after your wedding. I think I got ours about a month after?

No....but at most places you can only return a gift for credit. At BBB, they typically will hand you cash

Re: registeries!

BBB has a pretty decent list of brands that give you a bonus just for registering for a certain $ amount. I registered for Henkels flatware and got a free knife and flatware draw organizer...
