Re: registering.....

I got engaged in March of '04, my wedding is Sept of '05. I have been registered since....June-ish? Well, I was registered at Macy's in May but then they pissed me off. So I deleted my registry there and went to Fortunoff. That was sometime in June.

Can't hurt to register. Leaves the oppertunity for people to buy you things for Christmas, Birthday's etc...not just your Bridal Shower and Wedding.

Macy's web register is *issing me off too. Any coffee maker I pick gets discontinued. I got engaged in May and was urged to register right away. My very generous work colleagues bought me engagement gifts off it.

Do it now!! You can always add or remove later if you need to.

I would do it now. FH and I were going to wait but our friends and family kept telling us to register so we did in May

RUN FROM MACYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First off, all of the online prices are WAY off from the store. TOTALLY overpriced. And when you confront them about it (the store), they tell you there is nothing they can do because they are two different entities. Then they tell someone that went to buy me a gift that they have to pay like 15 dollars for shipping because it is an item that is NEVER in stock. It was the gravy boat to my china pattern. So, when I call to complain they tell me, 'well, none of the accessories to the china are carried in stock, so all of the items will be charged shipping'

Then they tell me not to have anyone buy online because it could take months to receive it. So, you want to charge the people that come in to buy me something shipping...when they are THERE to buy it....but they can't buy it offline!? Does that make sense to you!?

Oh man, I could go on for HOURS about them. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Re: registering.....

We were going to register at Target and MAYBE linens and things...
I figured that there were Targets almost everywhere and it would be easier for my guests....
Everytime I tell my mom that we are going to register, she tells me to wait.....I've been waiting since we got engaged....

Go for it! We registered at Fortunoff and Williams Sonoma and have been very happy with both

Re: registering.....

i am so glad i saw this! we registered with Macy's and Williams Sonoma very early on (engaged in April and registered in May-wedding next May) and WS told us go ahead but watch our registry because seasonal items would go out of stock...They were very upfront. Macy's never said a thing. Well here we are in Sept and a few item from WS have been discontinued-no problem, but most are still available and all is well. Macy's on the other hand is discontinuing items right and left! I've had more problems with my casual china, and now to hear about this never in stock business, well, i'm definitely RUNNING to Fortunoff!!!!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Re: registering.....

I haven't registered yet, but plan to as soon as our date & place is finalized. But from buying shower, engagement gifts, I have been very happy with Fortunoff (they even wrap for free, usually with a long line,) Bed, Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, & WilliamsSonoma. I am definitely going to Fortunoff. I just haven't decided where else. I can't wait to register!! It's gonna be fun!

Re: registering.....

I would register right away. I registered within days of being engaged. I'm a bit picky as to what I like. Unfortunately, my mom is deceased (the one who usually spreads the word) and everyone keeps buying me Knick-knacks (some Irish crystal pieces) when we don't have basic kitchen supplies. The only gifts I received off of my registery were from my MIL and a co-worker who asked me. Sorry, I don't mean to look a gift-horse in the mouth but what am I supposed to do eat my Cheerios out of a Waterford Candy dish?

MY advice, register and don't be shy telling people where you are registered.
