Is it okay that I am not registering for my engagement party? I will register after that for the bridal shower. We are probably going to have a very casual party in the park. I really don't want any gifts, and if I register is that like asking for gifts? What do I do? Is it okay to wait until after the engagement party?
Another question: Did everyone send out STD cards? I posted a website announcing our engagement and wedding date, everyone who has internet has seen it. But there are some older folks who don't have computers. Or is it okay just to announce the date at the engagement party?
Thanks for your imput in advance Everyone!

Re: Registering????
Yes, that's fine.. But also keep in mind that by not registering you are leaving yourself wide open and people will buy you what they like, which could go both ways lol
I didn't register either.. If you want to convey the idea to your guests that you would prefer they write a check as opposed to gifts, I suggest you let your parents know that... in teh event anyone calls them asking where you're registered, they can simply say that neither of you had had the chance being that you'er both saving to pay for this wedding yourself, blahblahblah.. they'll get the hint.. it doesn't sound as rude coming from them, you know?

Re: Registering????
I have mixed feelings - I have everyone asking me what I want for my party so I tell them - Simple for them to show up to my party! - Well they get annoyed Anyway, I would say I would register for these reasons - If you do not - you leave everyone to buy you whatever they like - and it may or may not be what you want or need. (That could still happen if you don't register). I have heard people say (don't know why) but that so and so is not registered and is having a party is that a hint that they only want cash. Some people.
If you plan on registering anyway I don't think it would be a bad idea to do it now and then it gives people some options of gifts to make you happy
