We loved registering!!! It was so much fun!!! When we couldn't decide on which brand to get of something, we typically went with the cheaper option or the one that would look right in our kitchen.
Good Luck!!

Re: registering....

I found it helpful to worry about one area at a time with breaks inbetween. We did the sheets and towels first because that was easier. Then after a few weeks we did the pots, kitchen stuff. Then we did the good china. We just went back to do the bedding and the 'gadget' stuff.

Also, once we registered for a lot of things, we made adjustments online. Like if I had a lot of expensive pots, I changed out some for cheaper ones. You might find that everything else is a lower price range so $300 knives is OK. If everyhing you register for is up there, then you can try to swap out with something less expensive. It's MUCH easier to look online and get the idea after you register than while you're in the store b/c it's all laid out for you.

i posted about knives in the past. yes they are super expensive. my parents have knives from when my mom had her shower 27 years ago. if you take good care of them, they will last long.

fh WANTED to go register. it was great but jesssssssuss christ! registering for silverware was annoying. he had to pick up EVERY SINGLE knife and fork and make sure it was light enough, yet durable. he hates heavy forks lol

Re: registering....

I told FH I wanted to divorce him while we were registering.... the woman at the Bridal Registry counter looked at me like I was nuts.

Honestly... register for stuff you want to see in person at the store and do the rest online... There is no reason to stand there scanning every friggin kitchen gadget under the sun. Half of the scanners don't even work right. I almost threw one across Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday.

I gave up, went home, and updated all of my registries in my PJs. I forwarded the link to FH... I doubt he even looked at it.

haha mine did that too. I told him i was going to stab him if he picked up one more fork or knife.

And it took him an hour to pick out a cutting board.

Ooooo FH can't wait to register just to use the scanner....

I already made a very detailed list of what we need and what i want so he can scan that and ofcourse he will have some choices of his own.

Re: registering....

just get what you can get done, let him play with the scan gun, and don't make your registry public until you've had some time to review/make changes... and once it is public you can still make changes/additions... the in-store stuff is exhausting but once you get past that, not so bad...

when i don't know what brand or product to go with i enlist my mom's help... for instance she told me what to look for with flatware (previously i wasn't aware of the different qualities of stainless steel...etc)...

good luck!

We loved registering! But i guess it had to do with the fact that I work for the Home divison of Bloomingdales so I am around it all the time so pretty much knew what to rgister for and why. If you have any questions about brands let me know I have a broad knowledge in Housewares
