FH and I have our own place and dont really need any traditional registry items i.e. china, glasses etc. So we were thinking of registering for honeymoon stuff--- i.e. nights at hotel, spa service, gc for dinner etc. I have seen some sites that do this and it seems fun, and more practical for us.
However when I mentioned this to people i have gotten mixed responses..
What do you girls think? Anyone do , if so what responses have you gotten?

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
We're registering with our travel agent (a friend of the groom) as well as Bed Bath & Beyond. That way people can choose what they want to do (although I hope we get a good response to the honeymoon registry). I'm curious to see what will happen...

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
Cool-- I hope so too!
How are yo working the registry through your travel agent? is it a special website? I know alot of the sites that do honeymoon registrys end up charging a significant fee to set it up/

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
We don't have any fees, but that might be because the travel agent is a friend. I just gave my sister all the travel agent info with their website, the agent's phone #, and e-mail. That way she can incorporate it somehow when she sends out the shower invites. I also have a wedding website where I posted the info under my registry section. When poeple send money towards the honeymoon, the agency is going to send them some sort of formal certificate so that they feel like they have something to give me at the shower. I'm hoping people go for it, but they might be nervous since it's out of the norm...

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
FH and I have lived together for about 3 years and have our own house- so same here- we dont need alot of the 'normal' registry things- so we are going to register thru liberty travel- the lady there said she'll give me the cards to put in the shower invitations- and then people can purchase gift certificates for us thru liberty...
my dad does NOT like this idea- and i think alot of the older guest wont understand this- so it might seem weird to them-
so we are also registering at MAcys too-
so that way people have a choice.

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
Diana, Debi registered with Liberty Travel, and only one guest purchased something; Most guests gave them money at the wedding. Mary MOB
I have to say I am not a fan of it. Its just my opinion but to me its sort of like asking for money indirectly. People will give monetary gifts anyway for your wedding and e-party and you would use that towards your honeymoon anyway...

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
It definitely is different and I think hard for people because that want to wrap something up and give it to you. But it is not exactly like giving money because they can purchase something specific for the honeymoon. They can buy you one night in a hotel, a dinner, a massage, a horseback ride, an excursion... If you speak with your travel agent and let them know what things you plan on doing, then they'll advise your guests on what to get. However, like I said before, it is very new and different so I don't know how many people will be comfortable with the idea.

Re: Registering for a Honeymoon?
Like someone else said, to give variety, they registered at a traditional store and then a honeymoon one too. That is what I am going, Bed bath and beyond and Sandals registry through the weddingchannel.com. Good luck!
