Yup, both. You'll want every day dishes and the china for special occasions.

We are doign both also but I know a lot of people who only register for everyday. It is up to you. I say register for it because down the road you might want it and then you have to go out and spend your money on it when you could have gotten it for gift!

You can register for whatever you want. I did fine china and every day dishes.

I think most people do both... unless of course you already have everyday dishes or china. We registered for fine china b/c we already had a nice everyday set.

Re: registering for china

you can do whatever you want we picked every day dishes Noritake Colorwave because they are classic. We didn't pick china because we knew we wouldn't be using it anytime soon.

Re: registering for china

We registered for fine china, and two patterns of everyday. We anticipate we will not get a stitch of china, which is OK if it happens. Our everyday dishes are a little pricey, but very durable. And we like the standard Italian Countryside white dishes from Mikasa, so we'd actually like those better to take the place of china for parties, so we're planning on putting those on as well.

We only registered for everyday dishes, but nice ones that can be used for guests as well. This is just a personal choice since we don't like the look of china.
