So my FH and I registered in Macys and BBB and in both stores we picked a flatware pattern we liked figuring we would do comparison when we got home and delete one. Well it turns out that both ladies in the stores said that the flatware we picked isn't good b/c it is 18/0 and we should pick 18/8 and 18/10 rated ones.
Is/was anyone else told this and taking their advice? Should I really put expensive (we're talking $50 / setting) flatware on my registry? that's $600 for forks and knives with out any of the serving utensils!!
Does anyone know or have registered for less expensive good quality flatware anywhere? Do you know the company?
Thanks for any help you have to offer

Re: Registering for flatware
All flatware should be 18/10 I know Bloomingdales only sells 18/10 stainless steel flatware and you can usually get a set for 12 people for around $100. Not that expensive but def. only register for the 18/10 it is better quality

Re: Registering for flatware
i didn't have to put a flatware set on the registry because i have a few sets that i've gotten from work-i work for a housewares company. And the best flatware sets to go with are definitely 18/10, i really wouldn't go with anything else. 18/8 is good, but the 18/10 is definitely better.
Some good brands are Wallace and Oneida

Re: Registering for flatware
When you look at the flatware, pick it up and feel that is has a bit of weight to it, and actually a good trick is to pick up the fork and press it against the wall to see if it bends or not. Our flatware is 18/10 stainless steel and it was not very expensive at all, the brand was Gourmet Settings and they carry it at BBB. For 3 sets of 20 pieces/12 place settings it was less than $200. HTH!

18/0 means there is 0% nickel, which is what guards against corrosion/rust. 18/8 & 18/10 are made up of 8% and 10% nickel, so they'll hold up better in the long run.
