registering for furniture???

i was speaking with one of my friends this weekend. she is engaged and both FH and her have been living on their own for a bit so they have most of the basic stuff. she said what they really need is some furniture, like a couch and stuff.

does anyone know of any registry where ppl can put money towards items like this? she doesnt expect 1 person to buy a couch. but perhaps if they could contribute $100 towards it or $50, and then that could add up.

does this idea exist? i had no clue.
