Registering Question

Registering Question

Goin' to Jersey tomorrow to look at 2 places. I'm hoping I don't fall in love OR it's not ridiculously cheaper.

But for the real reason of my post... What do we register for? (Fortunoff's)

We are not getting china cause I inherited some. So, I'm thinking the following:

1. Stemware
2. Silverware
3. Some kitchen stuff

But what else - we don't know WHERE we are living since we haven't bought a house yet. We don't what size bed, or color for a bathroom. Don't know color for kitchen but we can just do plain tephlon pans. And this registry is really just for the 12 people who asked 'where are they registered'....

Any ideas?

Re: Registering Question

bedding
towels
electrics - iron, coffe machine, vacum, toster, etc.
Casual every day plates
pots and pans
toasting flutes
cake knife/server
cake topper

Even if you dont know what color or size bed to buy for... but neutral colors that you will use no matter what ( white or cream)
bed size.. register for king or queen you can always exchange it later.

Re: Registering Question

Any place you go to to register will give you a suggested list of things you need. Also, once you get there and get started, you'll find what you want/need and add it on. Make sure the place has a good return/exchange policy and keep all receipts, packaging inserts, etc. Also, once you register you'll find that all the 'moms' in your life (older sisters, friends, cousins, real moms, friends' moms) are going to start telling you what you 'need' to have. Listen, but you don't have to follow!

glasses, ice bucket, coffee pot, picture frames, a electric skillet (awesome for breakfast), spice rack, pasta bowls, serving platters.
I love OXO gadgets, so i registered for a bunch of them.

Once you go, your going ot see a million things you'll want!

Thanks!

And these things will still be there at Fortunoff in a year or so too? I always thought it was best to wait for things like casual plates and certain appliance cause they go out of stock?

I can't wait!

I registered in the summer of 2003. When something will be discountiued, you'll get an e-mail giving you the chance to purchase it.

also, if they discontinue certain lines and you like the new design, you can return the old stuff and change to the new one...i didn't use fortunoff though so i don't know their registry return policy, but everyone registers there so it must be good...i know bed bath and beyond gives you cash back if it's on the registry.

Re: Registering Question

I am also getting married in 2006 & we recently registered for basic items (china, crystal, dinnerware). We are not having an EP & people still wanted to buys us presents for our engagement.

I worked at Fortunoff for 3 years while I was a student at Hofstra & items tend to get discontinued. We registered for all the basic stuff & we will not the rest (bedding, bath, appliances, etc) NEXT January 2006...6 months before our wedding. Just to play it safe! Hopefully, we will know where we are living by then

Re: Registering Question

Fortunoff is really good with their return policy. You can get cash back for whatever is on your registry. I am not sure about the notification process if something is discontinued???
I know it says it when you print up your registry.
Free Gift Wrapping for those who are purchasing at Fortunoff!

Re: Registering Question

I've lived in my own apartment for about 2 years now.. and FH still lives at home.. so we had the problem of not knowing what to register for either. Everything that we'd need i already have accumulated in the past 2 years.. so we registered for fun things. or better versions of things we already have.. that way if no one wants to buy us the $90.. no big deal.. i already have a bunch.

make sure to register for things you'll need.. as well as things you'll find fun and want. not everyone wants to buy boring kitchen stuff. and not everyone wants to buy funky lampshades.
