Registries?

Registries?

Okay my FH & I are paying for the whole wedding ourselves. We've been living together for over 2 years now. So we don't really need a lot of items. We really want people to contribute to our honeymoon registry...

Anyone doing a honeymoon registry or has done one - what was the outcome? How should I tell people nicely it's better to give us money for our honeymoon without sounding $$$ hungry?

Should we still have gift registry - my MOH said take it off the website and when the shower comes they will tell the registry info for BBB and Macys. She said to put the HM registry up and get rid of the BBB & Macys.

Any thoughts?

Re: Registries?

We did our HM registry on Travelersjoy.com (FM me if you want the link to our registry). The site does take 7%, but if you think about it, that's less than tax.

We ended up getting a check for just under $1900 in total from gifts our friends and family gave us on our HM registry. It was also great fun being able to share so much about our plans for our HM with everyone!

LMK if you want any more info about it.

ETA: We were also registered at BB&B, but most people who gave us gifts gave them from the HM registry. I did not have a conventional gift shower. TJ will also give you papers to put in your invites if you want to inform them about the registry.

Re: Registries?

If you dont want gifts dont register. Just do a honeymoon registry and guest will either give money or contribute to the HM Registry.

Let your parents know if guest ask tell them you have everything and they should gift money

Thanks girls - ever heard of the honeyfund.com

There's not service charge at all, only if they pay via pay pal.

My friend at work set one up through liberty travel but she is doing a small bb&b one too just in case someone does not want to give to the HM registry.

Re: Registries?

I will probably contribute to her hm registry [her shower is this April]
If not just give her a check.
There is a processing fee to contribute so I feel the cash would be better.

Re: Registries?

We're using Honeymoon Wishes.com and they giveyou the choice to take the fee out of your total or add it to your friend's gift - like a regular tax.

As for advice.. I only listed our HM registry on our website... was going to list a few items from Macy's or BBB... for guest options. But not many items... just what we need. Everyone knows to gravitate toward the HM registry. We even received engagement gifts, bday gifts, all from the HM registries. So I would leave it up.
