how long after you got engaged did you register for your registry?

Re: Registry
I just started the whole process and we're engaged just about 6 months. I think you usually do it about 6-9 months before your wedding.

Re: Registry
We did it 6 months before our wedding. If you do it too early, things on the registry will get discontinued and you'll have to change things.

Re: Registry
I am waiting until FI and I get our own place, currently we have no place to put gifts if people send them. We have gotten a few engagement presents and have no room for them.
I am looking forward to walking around the stores with the scanner gun though...:) :)

Re: Registry
It's too early for us now. We'll probably do that in August. It'll give us a reason to shop AND be in the air condition all day!! FI is gonna love that.

Re: Registry
about a month after. we were having an engagement party and people kept asking us where we were registered. It has worked out pretty well. I have updated it over the past year and really only our everyday dishes got discontinued, but thats ok because we already got them as a gift for our engagement!

Re: Registry
We registered about 7-9 months before our wedding. We were told that a lot of things get discontinued so we should not register too early. Also, for bedding/towels that is very seasonal and we were told to register for it last (about 4 months before the wedding).

Re: Registry
We registered right after we got engaged because people were already asking us. Also, we just had our engagement party last Saturday and I wanted people to have options. It is nice to set it up early this way you can possibly get everything you want. Only bad thing is storing it all. Thankfully, we have the room.

Ditto! Plus, I couldn't wait! We didn't register for bed or bath, since styles change so often. A lot of things have been discontinued, but thats's fine, just gives me an excuse to check my registry on line all the time!

Re: Registry
We registered last week. We aren't getting married until 07, but we both live at home and have NOTHING for our own place (my registry is like 4 pages just for kitchen stuff). So for my birthday and xmas I am going to ask for stuff off the registry.

we only had a 9 month engagement, so we registered about a month after we got engaged.

Re: Registry
Within one month after the engagement. (9/04) Only 1 thing was discontinued since then. We keep updating and adding. Now we're done since the shower is in two weeks.
