What do you register for when you all ready have the stuff you normally register for?? My and FH have lived together for 6 years and had our house for 3...not much left to buy??

Any suggestions?? I wasn't big on the shower thing at all since my wedding is happening so fast, but MOH insists...

Any ideas?? I like the honeymoon registry but I feel bad cause its basically asking for money...help!

FH and I have lived together in our house for a while too, but we still registered for a lot of the usual things just so we can I guess 'upgrade.' The other thing we're considering is registering for the honeymoon registry and registering at like Ethan Allen or something like that where people can contribute to pieces of furnture since our entire dining room set is hand me down and we don't even have a hutch!

We registered for some upgrades and also for things we didn't have - good china, sterling silver, crystal, etc.

Re: Registry?

I know what you mean! When my dad moved to Mass to live with his girlfriend he left a lot of stuff behind for DH and I to have. We had pretty much everything we needed, but we took that oportunity to put things we needed upgraded on our registry.
We needed China, but we had silverware and crystal stemware along with all the little essentials. We asked for new patio furniture, a grill, better pots and pans, henkel knives, new towels, and new sheets (because you can always use new sheets and towels) and a new vacuum and that was pretty much it.
We got tired of people calling us and yelling that we had nothing on our registry, so we put that stuff on because we figured either we would need replacements at some point, or the stuff we had wasn't really wonderful quality.
Hope you can use some of this stuff!

You can register on amazon.com so litterally anything you may need or want should be on there in addition to the 'normal' registry stuff... it gives you lots of options.

Re: Registry?

We were in the same boat. I've lived on my own for a long time, and lived with my husband for a year and a half before we were married. So what we did was register for upgrades of things we had, and stuff we'd always wanted but hadn't gotten. Such as, a KitchenAid stand mixer. All brides seem to want one--I'd always wanted one because I bake a lot, but the money was never there. So I got one of those, in tangerine, and I LOVE it! Also got a KitchenAid food processor. And my husband wanted really good kitchen knives. We had knives, of course, but none of them were good ones, and it's amazing the difference really good knives make. We registered for Global, which are incredible Japanese knives. Other than that, we went to BB&B and looked for stuff. There's always more things you could have, or upgrade. We registered for new pillows, a nice new blanket, all new towels as ours were old and mostly didn't match. You will be surprised at how much stuff you'll find, and how much you'll enjoy having new things. The only thing I'm sorry about is that it's summertime and I don't like having the oven on--I want to cook and bake with my new things!

One other thing--make sure you register for a bunch of stuff in the $20 range, as they go fast. A lot of people want to buy one or two little extras, or want to give a bunch of boxes, so they buy a lot of little stuff. Or who want to give a basket of stuff.

Re: Registry?

We registered on Amazon. It worked out well, except they don't have any of the registry bonuses like Macy's and BB&B have. However, like you said, they have pretty much EVERYTHING. After returns and gift certificates, we have more than $500 in credit with them, which is great. Can't decide what to do with it! Flat screen TV, maybe?

We are in the same boat - we've lived together for 5 years now...so we have all the stuff you typically register for. We weren't originally going to register for 'good china' as we don't think we're fancy enough people really....but my MOH convinced me that at some point in my life i'll want that stuff and we'll be saving for our kids' college and won't have the money to do it. So - that was a biggie on our list...good china.

Also - it's a good chance to register for the things you always wanted, but didn't want to put money aside for. That Kitchenaid blender (my FH is in appliance sales - that's a GREAT item), gadgety things...

I found a lot of stuff like that on Pampered Chef's registry - more things that seemed I could make more use out of them!

HTH!!

FH and I live together, but we registered for decorative things and upgrades...for example, our pots and pans are ready for the garbage and the dishes we have are old...also we registered for china and things like that

we did a HM registry and people have loved the idea so far! Why have them spend $$ on something you dont need or really want when they can give u a gift towards something u do want!?

Re: Registry?

you could register for new furniture if you feel their becoming outdated. i know people who have registered for sport stuff like kayaks, or camping stuff. i personally love the honeymoon registry. like myself, i think a lot of couples forget to factor in the honeymoon into their budget. it's a great way to stay in budget.
