Re: Registry
the idea for the registry is especially for couples who don't live together yet, it gives people an idea of the things you want and need for your home so they can purchase it for sometimes your Engagement party but most often your bridal shower or even wedding. People who tend to not be able to make a wedding, send a gift off of a registry. It just gives people a better indication of the things you want/need.

Re: Registry
sometimes if u register early u will get some gifts at ur engagement party(if u have one)....and sometimes a gift or two at the wedding.. but it's mainly for your bridal shower. It's basically stuff for the home/things that ur & ur hubby need... pots&pans, towels, bedding, glasses, dishes, etc...
hope this helps

Re: Registry
yeah, you usually don't get any gifts at the wedding reception. Boxed gifts are for the Bridal Shower, and people usually just give money at the wedding.
Like the posters said above, it's basically for home supplies. Me & FH don't live together, so we have EVERYTHING on that registry. lol. And we actually do need it all badly. Like towels, and iron & ironing board, utensils, etc, etc, etc.

Re: Registry
Fh and I do live together, but I'm registering for replacements. Most things will be bought before the wedding, but a lot of my family members will give gifts at the wedding, not just money.

Re: Registry
I know in other states (midwestern, upstate ny, southern, etc) the registry is meant to be for gifts to bring to the wedding. In fact you could have OOT guest who would prefer to buy off of your registry and bring it with them as their wedding gift.
