Registry

all this talk of registries is getting me nervous!!

we had an e-party but we didnt register for it. our wedding isnt until July.. isnt it too soon to register?

those of you that have registered: are you guys worried about styles changing or things getting discontinued?

should we register soon??

It is whatever you prefer. I have gotten a lot of stuff off of mine. I had things discontinued and I just changed them. You can always return stuff

Re: Registry

I made a registry of just basic house stuff and will update it once we move into the house. It mainly consists of towels and sheets, as i don't need any houseware products

I don't think that its too early to registry and you can always update it

Re: Registry

i didn't want to register for the e-party. I will probably won't register for awhile....I want to wait and see if we are moving when our lease is up in July bc its hard to register when I don't know where we will be living or what we will need.

but, if you aren't planning to move or if you know everything you'll need I don't see why you can't register now.

Re: Registry

i registered but only because it gave his family an option of stuff to buy us.....some of the stuff has already been discontinued, but i will just updated once it gets closer to the wedding

Re: Registry

some of my things did get discontinued already BUT i will add more things on for the shower. At least you will have a head start!! Styles change and so can your registry!! I happen to like what I like regardless of what is 'in' at the moment so I am not too worried!

I say go for it :)

Re: Registry

we are having an engagement party at the end of feb so we registered at target for really basic things (everyday plates, silverware, glasses, coffee maker...) that we really need since we are now looking for our first apartment ! Then when it gets closer to the wedding we can register for more stuff that we will need then

Re: Registry

We registered for our e-party and got a majority of our kitchen appliances. I am not worried about anything being discontinued because I can just add something new. I didn't register for dishes yet tho., still looking for the perfect set!

Re: Registry

we registered right after we got engaged. it was so much fun! and it doesnt hurt to do it, it doesnt cost you anything! and when things get discontinued we just pick new.

I haven't registered yet either and when I saw all the registry post I got worried too. We aren't having an engagement party so I definitely would like to register for my bridal shower. I guess do what ever works best for you and FH.

Re: Registry

We just started registering today... and we're down to 7 months till the wedding... things get discontinued... styles and tastes change... if you do it too early, it could end up being a waste of time for you... and btw, fh & i didnt have a blast doing it... well only some of the stuff was fun like the cool gadgets LOL

Question - I know this might sound tacky.....I would rather get $$ at our engagment party. We've lived together for a long time and have a lot of stuff. Obviously I would never tell guests to give us money, but I feel they would be more likely to do that if we aren't registered....or I may be setting myself up to get gifts I really didn't want....what does everyone think??

We registered before the party but did not tell people only if they asked which a lot didn't but now a days with the interent the theknot, com people just know to search you. Maybe regsiter for a few things and see if people get it for you, I think it is better then getting some random stuff. People were very generous with us and we got a lot of money and gifts!
