I'M DEBATING WHAT VACUUM TO PUT ON. I WANTED A DYSON CANISTER BUT IT'S $499. IS THAT RIDICULOUS TO ASK OF PEOPLE?

Put it on..... someone might buy it... you never know. Its not like its the only thing on your registry to buy. Your guests will have a choice.

I agree, and most stores with a registry offer a completion discount after the event. You will be able to get it for yourself cheaper (and you will probably rack up a bunch of gift cards too)!!!

I put my electrolux on -- $499 if I get it great if now, oh well I'll get it myself.

give people lots of options. At least a vacuum is a usuable item and people understand that.

The most I was putting on was a $250 bissel vaccuum... i only had it on bc it seemed like our current one was konking out on us, but stupid me, all i had to do was clean out the filters.. soooo on that note, we decided to take it off and ended up putting on pricier bedding and more kitchen gadgets instead....

I put a nice piece of luggage that was $400 on my registry. It was sooooo nice and I really wanted it but didn't want to buy it myself. Macy's was having a HUGE home sale a few months ago and it went to $200, so someone bought it for me!

You never know... I would put whatever you want for the home on your registry (although I wouldn't put furniture)

Keep it on. FH and I have a Dyson and it's the BEST investment we ever made. Someone very well might buy it for you.

On that note, I have a $600 pot and pan set on mine. Who knows......

I'm so putting a Dyson on our registry!! Definitely add it on, at least it will be there and someone or several someones have the option to get it for you. The worst thing that could happen is that no one buys it. Go for it!!!

A bunch of people might get together and chip in for it. I'd go for it. You could also get gift certificates towards it.

My friend registered for some expensive pieces from Tiffany a couple of years ago. . .and believe it or not, people bought them for her!!! I think you're safe, especially if the office decides to all go in together on one big wedding gift instead of a ton of little ones. (I know that at one of my schools, where the girls are like a sorority, they all pool together a few dollars each and get one big present off of the registry for each of the girls getting married that year.)

Put it on - you never know! And besides, if no one purchases it and you have a 10% or 20% type of discount on anything leftover on your registry, maybe you'll purchase it yourself!
