Is anyone registered yet. My mom wanted me to Register like 10 seconds after i got engaged . My FSIL said not to register too early bc if people want to give you engagement gifts they will give you money if you don't have a registry. (And of course FH does what ever his sister says) . What do you guys think

Re: Registry
I have set up our registries online. I have some stuff on all registries but you have to bear in mind that some things are seasonal and will most likely not be available year round for guests to purchase. That's why they say to not register too far in advance for gifts. As far as people purchasing you gifts off a registry for an engagement party, they only way they will know if you are registered is if they hear it by word of mouth so if you don't want them to purchase anything off the registries yet,m just don't tell them.
I won't actually be seriously registering until about 5 months before the wedding.

Re: Registry
The minute I got engaged people were like omg did you register.
I decided to since we were having an engagement party. Only I did not tell anyone I was registered unless they asked. I asked for my dishes, flatware, glasses, frames and vases. Nothing too much.
Mar check mine out at Macys and BBB so you get an idea of what I asked for and what I got.
For the party we got half gifts and half money. It was not a bad deal.

Re: Registry
I registered 2 weeks after I got engaged and Im glad that I did because instead of getting clothes for my birthday or Christmas I got registry gifts.

Re: Registry
I had my engagement party, and 98% of people gave cash gifts.
I prob won't register until my shower is booked. SO probably over the summer.

Re: Registry
10er crashing! My wedding is almost 9 months away, not exactly sure when my shower is going to be but we just registered last week. JMO but I didn't want to register too early because a lot of stuff might be discontinued by next year. Theres actually a few things that I want now that are going to be discontinued in a few months, so just keep that in mind. I mean if you know that people are going to purchase thnigs off your registry for other holidays then thats one thing but otherwise I'd wait.

Re: Registry
I would at least start a small registry. If people want to give you gifts instead of cash, they will, regardless of whether or not you have a registry. So if they're going to give you physical gifts, they might as well be ones that you want.
We got a mix of cash and gifts at our e-party.

Re: Registry
I am going to wait to register until a couple of months before the wedding. Just because we will be buying a place, and I feel like I will have a better idea of what I want when we have the condo.

Re: Registry
We already registered (after the eparty) but haven't released the registry info to anybody. The website will 'go public' when we send out the STDs, so about a year before the wedding, at which point people will be able to see the registry.
But I think when to register/release is up to you and really depends on when you're comfortable doing it.
