I would say too early only for one reason.. Items being discontinued.. You might be more annoyed having to re register for items because they are no longer available adn heart broken by it too if you really loved something like say your dishes...

I agree with TerrieChick! FH and I don't have many similar days off so we actually went to register the same day we booked the wedding! We also anticipated living together way earlier and thought we may need a lot of stuff so we wanted to have some stuff on there for our engagement party. I think we went way too early - we've changed our mind on more than half of the stuff on our registry and a lot of things are discontinued. I'd wait until about 6-8 months before.

Way too early! lol But to echo the ladies above you don't want to worry about things being discontinued. We're 10 months out and will probably start ours in the next few months.

Are you having an engagement party because you can register for that. That is what we did and it worked out great. We didn't put it on the invite but a lot of people asked us or or parents if we were registered. We are going to add to it a couple months before my shower.

We registered February 2013 for our August 2014 wedding, so 18 months out. No regrets at all!! A couple of things have been discontinued, but it's super easy to monitor the registry (most of them have apps) and add new things. It's so great for us because I've been asking for registry gifts for birthdays and Christmas, so we've already gotten a lot of stuff. Go ahead and do it!!

Thanks ladies! I guess I will wait lol. We decided not to have an engagement party, we already live together & I already have all of my China settings just need gravy boat and platters so it might be better to wait. Plus I am debating on doing a honeymoon registry as I am not sure I will have much to register for but..that will probably all change once I get my hands on that scanner!! ;)

We registered 7 months before our wedding date to avoid items getting discontinued.
