Registry: Can someone explain to me the difference
between casual china and everyday dinnerware? Is this just another tactic to make you spend more money on plates you will be using every day?

Re: Registry: Can someone explain to met the difference
I think Casual China is actually a nicer quality china. It is in between very sturdy dishes for everyday and very delicate fine china.
Casual China could be used for a nice dinner if you didn't want to bring out the fine china.
Some people prefer casual china and everyday dishes as opposed to everyday and fine china.
It all depends on your needs.

Yes....Formal china is the fancy stuff....casual china can be used in an everyday manner OR as formal wear...
and then you have people like me who didn't bother with any of it cuz I knew I'd never use it and registered for Pfaltzgraff (which many use as everyday dishes and STILL have formal china)
Oh..and I inherited my grandmother's china set.

In my mind they are the same. Though I only registered for casual china- more than one person told me that they never use their fine china. So I will use my casual china every day. But it's from Pfaltzgraf and I love it.

my take on it: The china is the pretty, delicate, expensive stuff you keep all nice in a cabinet in the DR and take out on the holiday and stuff, and then pass on to your kids. If you are the type to love it and use it and cherish it, go for it!
We are geting one set of all purpose dishes that can go either way.
If I had 'china' I would break it, and then i would cry.
Besides, who has room for China i a two room apartment in Brooklyn!!

Casual china and every day dinnerware are the same thing.
You don't *have* to register for formal china if you don't want to. I want to have a formal dining room so I registered for it, but there really are no rules.

Ok, so its justs a matter of taste then? I was on BB&B and I wasnt sure what the difference was. I too inherited fine china so Im only looking for sets to use everyday. Thanks for clearing the air.
