Registry - China and what else?

China: How many sets did you register for?

Stainless flatware: How many sets of this?

Any stemware? What pieces?

They recommend 8-12 of each. We did 10. For stemware I just did the wine and water glass. I didn't do the champagne flute or the ice beverage glass. Ten of each as well.

We registered for 12 place settings and all the pieces that are made in our pattern like sugar bowl, creamer, gravy boat, etc... We also registered for 12 wine glasses, water goblets and champagne flutes. We haven't registered for flatware yet, but we will for 12 as well and then the additional serving pieces.

Don't the 5 piece sets already come with soup bowls? I'm trying to decide if Bread and Butter plates are overkill.

Where did you get the Flatware chest?

I know Fortunoff's had a speical/sale and if you bought 'X amount' of settings they give you the soup bowl.

Some sets come with the flatware chest or sometimes if you buy 'X amount' of settings they give you the chest.

Re: Registry - China and what else?

We have 12 5 piece place settings of our china on our registry. We also put 1 13' platter, 2 vegetable bowls, & the gravy boat and stand. Macy's has a deal that if all 12 of your 5 piece place settings are purchased then you get a free vegetable bowl (or maybe two, I don't remember exactly). We also originally had the salt and pepper shakers and sugar bowl and creamer on our registry but recently removed them. After thinking about it we realized that no one was going to buy as an $80 creamer. So we are going to look for a less expensive, more practical pattern for those pieces.

As for crystal, we received 12 wine goblets, 12 champagne flutes and 8 cordial glasses for our engagement. We registered for 12 double old fashions that we plan to use as water glasses. We also registered for the matching ice bucket and 4 vodka (martini) glasses.

Can't help on the silverware cuz we have plenty of casual already and are getting a family set passed down to us as far as the nicer stuff is concerned.

The 5-pc set comes with Dinner Plate, Salad Plate, Bread & Butter Plate, and Cup & Saucer.
Soup Bowl is usually separate although sometimes they run specials for free soup bowls when you purchase a place setting.

The Flatware Chest is sold in Fortunoff's (or anywhere really)

Oh, okay, my set comes with a soup bowl and no B&B plate.
