Registry Etiquette

What is the average price of gifts you registered for?

How do you let people know where you registered?

It's obviously totally poor etiquette to include it in the invitation, right???

If you get a gift, you usually don't get $$$ too, right???

We registered for gifts from $25-$200 - a huge range. Definitely give people a lot of choices and price ranges.

It's considered tacky to include it in the invitation. What we did was that we had a link to the registries from our website, and then we put the website address in an extra card that we put with our save-the-dates with other information. We agonized over this, but we needed to direct people to the websites for hotels, directions, etc.

You also should let your family and wedding party know where you're registered, so if people ask them they call tell your guests, and registry information is usually included in bridal shower invitations, too.

If you get a gift, you don't usually get money, too.

Re: Registry Etiquette

My FH has his own apartment, so we don't need a lot of the little stuff...just replacements, upgrades, and a few additions...basically a lot of $$$ stuff.

The way I look at it is - register for what you want and need - that's the purpose of a registry. If it's expensive, people can go in on gifts together.

My registry info is on our weddingchannel.com and theknot.com websites, and was spread by word of mouth through family and friends. People ask.

My bridal party will include the registry info in the shower invites. I don't think we'll include it in the wedding invites...but you could...on something like the hotel or direction card.

When we go to weddings of people we're close to, we don't like to give just money - so we usually do half and half...that way we can give them something with some meaning behind it too - not always off the registry either (recently we gave a waterford Christmas ornament of two bells with a tag on it engraved with the couple's names and wedding date - they got married around the holidays). But usually - I think people give either money or gifts.

The cheapest item on our registry is $5.00 and the most expensive is $300. You need a wide range in prices, but most of our items are in the $50-$200 area.

Usually it's word of mouth through others in your family. They include the registry cards in your shower invitations, anywhere else is not considered proper etiquette.

I have given shower gifts, and then money at the wedding, but yes, usually if you get a gift for the wedding, you won't get money as well.

our registry items range from 25 to about 600
Your bridal party is supposed to spread the word about where you are registered
NEVER include registry info in the invitation!
and as for the last question, depends who gives you the gift!

Re: Registry Etiquette

my sister did my invitations for my shower and put where i was registered in that. I'm not going to mention it in my wedding invites, not only b/c its tacky i think but b/c i'd rather the money at that point. But i'm sure if people wanted to buy a gift they would either remember fromt he shower where we are registered or ask my mom or someone.

gifts are 30 and up.. all the way to 500 (for pots which my FMIL bought).

Re: Registry Etiquette

Our registries had things in there at all different price levels. Our least expensive item was $1.95 (a glass from C&B) to $2,450 (our sterling from Fortunoffs) and yes, both extremes were purchased for us. Generally, gifts were purchased for my bridal shower so I tried to keep a lot of the items in the 25-75 range, but we were also given wedding presents from the registry and those were in the 150 - 400 range.

Re: Registry Etiquette

This question came up yesterday with my MOH's. I did NOT put registry info in the wedding invites but had some people ask why Registry info does not go in the wedding invites - or any invite really - but most people do put the registry cards in shower invite.

My MOH was getting confirmaitons for my shower and when people asked where I was registered she got concerned since she thought they got shower invites but not wedding invites She told me that it should have been in them but that is not accurate.

Word of mouth it the best or put them in the shower invites.

Our range is $3.99 (napkin rings) to $500+ (a Dyson) with most in the $50 - $100 range I think.

The registry cards are is still on my coffee table

ditto! Most are 125 or under, but the vaccum and mixer are more. I figure someone could possibly get the vaccuum or mixer as a group gift, or at least after the wedding we could get 10% off these items!
