Registry Etiquette

Registry Etiquette

I'm just curious what you guys think are things that should not be on a registry....

I've seen registries with cameras and other superfluous things on it...and to me, i thought registries were for household items...not toys...

Registries started as thinks that you 'need' to start you life together. Since so many people live on their own and/or together now before marriage that they have become more a list of any and all items that the couple may want of need. I don't think that cameras are a bad registry gift. They will help preserve your memories of your life together.

i kind of agree that its weird to add cameras and 'toys' to your registry but its true that most couples do live together and have the needed items for a household pre-shower. I actually just added a camera and some other weird things to my macys registry but for another reason. I had my shower already and have a macys card. After my wedding...whatever isnt purchased I get 10% and can use reward money on...PLUS...a cashier told me that everytime i want to buy something from macys...add it to the registry first...then buy it...this way i will keep tacking on points!

I added only a few 'toys' (like a foot spa) on the registry for fun. Everything else was household/kitchen stuff.

ITA! I think items like cameras are kinda tacky. Maybe if you didn't have one you could say you need one? But I don't know? I'd sooner register for some gift cards from that store and use those to buy those extra items rather than register for them outiright, you know?

I think it's fine to add cameras, etc to your registry. I do not think it's ok to ask for money on a registry.

Times have def. changed many people have lived on their own or together so they might not need as much of the usual stuff. I think though that it depends on what you think your guests will say. If your family is kinda laid back and you don't think it will be a problem than go ahead an register away! If you think it will be more of a problem than it might not be worth it!

i believe that a registry is a wish list. if someone doesnt want to buy me the 3500 bar i have on it than thats fine, but i put it on there anyway
