Re: Registry Etiquette
Tacky. it's just as tacky as putting 'cash gifts only' on a wedding invite.
People want to buy you THINGS. Is everyone really going to ooh and aah at a baby or bridal shower when you open gift card after gift card?
If she really wants cash, then she can just return all the things she registered for. And many people give gift cards anyway. Pre-determining the amount for them to buy is pretentious.

wow...she requested the amount??? i remember when fortounoff was still fortuonoff on the registry there was the option of a gift card (you didnt put the amount) and we checked yes bec i felt like well if someone didnt really want to go thru the hassle of printing out the papers and locating the gift asnd gift wrapping then they could just get the gc....

Me too. We had checked the 'yes' box also as an added option. We also have this on our Amazon and Macy's registries. But we did NOT put down pre-determined amounts. THAT I think is tacky.

A lot of places have that. We did it everywhere I think. We selected the 'yes' box. I didnt even think you could register for specific GC amounts, not that I would. my preference is for people to buy me the things i want (I mean, we need).
Did she register for AMEX GC or GC for a specific store?
