If we rcv a registry gift shipped to the house prior to the bridal shower are we supposed to open it or leave it wrapped until the day of the shower or afterwards? We got our first registry gift today and we dont know the etiquette on this!

When i got some gift for my baby shower sent home my mom made me bring them to my shower and open then ... and we sent pic. of who ever sent it if they werent coming ... if there going to be there i would do the same so they could see you open it ... If there not going to be there then open away

If it's for your bridal shower, I would bring it with you and open there. If it was for the wedding..........I would open it ASAP!!!!!

I'm not sure if its for the shower specifically or the wedding in general. Also, if I dont know when my shower is, how can I get it there the day of to open it with the other gifts?

I dont really know what the etiquette is, but i think if you open it send them a thank you right away, but if you hold off until your shower...take a pic of you opening it at the shower like you said, and put in the note that you were sorry they couldnt come but waited to open until your shower so you would feel like theywere there

I received one & opened it. Its kind of weird but some of my family memebers were hounding me to register right after we got engaged so they could get us an 'Engagement' gift. If it is for you shower, like you mentioned, how would you know when it is? I would open it, call and then send a THank you card....thats what I did

ditto - i opened them and sent a ty card - the difference though is that i live 1000 miles away from my shower/wedding location, so there was no way in hell i was bringing them with me to bring them back home...see what feels best for you

I received a gift and my dad grabbed it and hid it before I could open it. My parents said I have to wait for the shower.

I had wrestled with this situation as well and in the end I ended up not opening the gift and brought it to the shower. However, it was from Macys and the packing slip told me what it was so i knew what i got but didn't have to open it to find out.

That happended to me...so my sister said you know your having a shower..so give me it and whenever it is thats when you can open it! So I gave it too her and changed my addy to my parents just incase anymore gifts came in!!
