Registry Help

So I need some knife help. What is the best brand of knives to get? What are the key types of knives you should have. I know I want a santoku knife. I originally registered for Kitchenaid but but know I'm liking the Henckels. But it's super expensive and I doubt anyone will buy me a $300 block of knives. Help!!!

My FFIL says the Henkels (PRO) set are the best. Very expensive!! He cooks alot, so I believe him.

My FH is the cook too. So he did the kitchen registering. We registered for the Henkels. I argued that no one would buy something that expensive. I put my foot in my mouth when we received them for our engagement party. We love them!!!

We also registered for the Henkels. I didn't want to at first b/c of the $$ but then figured why register for something that's not what we really want. My FH is the cook, too, btw!

henkels are great knives. so are wüsthof. there are 2 types , forget the exact names, but you want to get the kind that can be sharpened thruout its lifetime. ask someone at the store they should be able to help you.

I think the Henkels Pro are like that. There are all different Henkel knifes, so make sure you get the professional set.

I went with Wustof, as a personal choice.. but also because I registered at BB&B, the 20% coupon can't be used on Henkels, so Wustof worked out and I didn't feel so guilty registering for such pricey knives

The one I saw was Twin Cuisine by J.A. Henckels. Link to Fortunoffs

I'm not sure if this is the same as the professional ones that everyone mentioned.
