REGISTRY - HELP!!!

REGISTRY - HELP!!!

What do I put on my registry since we're already living together and have most of the things we need. So yesterday FH and I finally went to Bed Bath to do our registry. We were there for what felt like forever. & we only came up with like 20 things.
& I don't know what else to add on.... I mean I dont want crystal champgane flutes for $100 a piece because that (IMHO) is ridiculous. I already have nice luggage, we have all the regular household stuff like microwave, toasters, coffemakers and so on but I really dont know what to put on.

We are thinking about putting a camcorder and a small plasma/lcd 20-30' tv for our bedroom. & we added a nice set of pots but the rest are small things.
& I just don't know if there is a point for my mom to throw this huge shower, spend lots of money on the hall for a couple of small things that I need. I told her to just do it at her house because we have a huge living room & dining room area... and to just include the closest women (cousins, closest friends and aunts)

Any comments? advice?

we also live together, but ended up registering for a lot of stuff. mostly because i moved in with him, so we had our separate stuff, but we wanted stuff that was now ours (and nicer than what we each had). we also need a new toaster oven, we dont' have a coffee pot cause we dont' drink coffee, but would like one for when we have guests. you can never have too many towels or sheets.

have you thought about maybe doing a HM registry? i think the idea of a small tv, or small electronics is a good idea. if people dont' want to buy it all on their own, they can split the gift with others, so it'll be OK to have only a few registry items.

We have lived together too for a long time. We are just getting rid of the old stuff and getting all new. We def went nuts on new bedding, sheets, curtains. New shower head, scale. New bathroom accesories. Think of redecorating. I love yankee candles so i added like 12 of them. I know its so hard when you live together. Maybe a new garbage pail?? LOL! Good luck. I know how ya feel!

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

Although FH and I also have lived together for a while, we found lots of things to put on the list as we want to start fresh from moving to a new apartment to getting new things. I changed the color pattern for the kitchen so got everything to match.
Add bathroon and bedroom stuff as you can never have too many of those.

did you do china? Do you want china? Maybe you can add that. Also, maybe you can add things and then if you decide you dont want them, you can return them. BBB gives chash back I believe...

Also remember to put on sheets- you can never have too many of those! And maybe new towels? What about a bed spread...

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

FH and I have pretty much lived together for a while and I had a bunch of stuff...but we got rid of that and are getting new stuff...new plates, glasses and stuff. Why not get better things of the same? As for the crystal and stuff i think it's something you will regret not getting in the future. I have no room for any of it, but i registered for stuff that I know I will want when i host dinners someday. At least i can look back and know i got it for my shower...

If not how bout like home depot where you can register for a BBQ and stuff? or the HM registry...

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

if u are set on not registering for the typical things since u already have them...what about registering for some nice art...or new window treatments?

or what about upgrading the things you have...like to better knives? you could start a registry w pampered chef and get REALLY good stuff!

did u register for any crystal...maybe some nice vases?

or you could always see about a honeymoon registry.

i was going to suggest china too. I agree with everything the above poster said. A friend suggested having separate towel colors for all the different visitors you have.

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

Problem is ..........
I just moved in to this house last december.....
(a house that my dad owned) and I lived there by myself.... it was all newly renovated. Brand new kitchen, stainless steel appliances, brand new bathroom. So last year I got all new things for housewarming and everything. I mean I wish I could update the old thigns, but they're not old. Everything is brand new (or almost brand new)
lol.
I wishhhhhh that we were moving in together after the wedding --- brand new everything----
& about fine china and crystal vases.... etc... that's what our guests who are coming from Poland are bringing as wedding gifts, because the variety and prices are much better ---- so maybe HM registry or more sheets and towels lol.
or i dont knoww

New towels, bedding, serving dishes, barware, picture frames, vases, any other decor, anything to do with entertaining, any electrics or kitchen gadgets that you need (just walk around BBB and you'll find stuff), table cloths, napkins, placemats, curtains, etc.

We live together too....

we registered for new bedding and stuff like that...maybe new towels and bathroom accessories? i feel like bedding and towels you can always use extra sets of.

we also registered at target b/c we put camping equipment, bocce, etc. on there. we had a wine fridge on ours too...not sure if you guys like wine.

the other thing we registered for is home depot gift cards. we plan on remodeling our house after the wedding and getting new appliances, etc.

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

You can always use another bedding set. Even if you just got a new one yourselves. Another down comforter....throws for the living room. You can always use more towels. Get some frames, some decorative pieces..maybe some nice vases or bowls, candleholders...chair massager, new clock radio, shower radio, cappucino/espresso maker, register for a new toaster oven...they get dingy looking pretty quickly-this way you can have one on reserve.

Re: REGISTRY - HELP!!!

I think you can still definitely register for alot of things even if you live together. I have so many not typical appliances and other things.

For one put the flutes on your registry, if ppl are going to your shower they NEED to get you something and when they dont have options its even more stressful. Put a wide range of things with low, medium and high priced things. People worry that a few of their items are expensive but guess what, if someone doesn't want to spend that much they wont, they will just look at the items that are in the price range of what they want to spend.

Here are a bunch of things i have that are not the typical toaster, coffee maker, pots and so on.

wine refrigerator
pizza oven
quesadilla maker
crepe maker
fondue set
lobster pot with lobster claw crackers
footed dessert dish
we also put lots of decor things such as vases, hurricane candles, paintings.
People can always use new table clothes and napkins, maybe register for ones you can use just for the holidays
alot of nice serving pieces, that are not 100% necessary but nice. I have glass 3-part appetizer dish, sushi plates, rice bowls, 3-tier buffet server and many other serving pieces like that

You can also get new comforters, thats always good to have and always something people will need new of.

vases
frames to put your wedding pics in and photo albums
put your flutes on there that you will use at your wedding and the cake knife that you will use. This way you don't have to go out and buy it.

other random things
trifle bowl
decanters
i even have sake glasses
pilsner glasses
the roly poly glasses that i absolutely love
DRINK mixer
rice cooker
mini deep fryer

new towels are always useful and bed sheets
