Registry help!... I'm so picky xpost

Registry help!... I'm so picky xpost

I'm inviting approx 65 ladies to my shower.

200 people to my wedding.

How much stuff should I register for? I'm so picky I'm having a really hard time finding enough stuff to register for at just a few stores

I've gone to BB&B and Macys so far.

So I'm asking:

How much stuff do I need to register for?

What is an appropriate amount of places to register at? Is anything more than 2 places too much?

I literally have 8 items on my registry at Macys
and maybe 20 at BB&B, but the BBB are smaller cheaper items.

Let's put it this way..if I went shopping for myself for home goods, esp decorative things - I'd go to 20 different stores if I had to until I found specifically what I wanted, regardless of the price... I don't like to settle.

thats why i don't wanna register. I have really unique taste.

Plus all the stuff i want is obnoxious, like ps3, a big *** flat screen tv...patio furniture lol.

Do you already have all your small appliance stuff etc? register for that.

always over register!
i tell this to everyone because some people may get you smaller things, but a bunch of them, like cookie sheets, those utensils that come all together, things like that. so things like that go fast.
also, register for a wide variety of things. not everyone will want to pay $200 for a gift and alot of people will want to spend more than $30 on a gift fo ryou, so give them a wide selection. and put little things on there too, like a swifter refill cartridge, corn on the cob holders - for your wishing well - stuff like that.
i wouldn't register at more than 2 places. usually macys is very convenient for everyone and you get a % back after the registry is complete in the form of a gift card so its like free money! so i recommend Macys. BBB is great too and people can use those coupons to buy your gifts. Either way, you can return whatever you don't want, even if you did pick it months ago after you receive it for credit and you can then choose something else that is more your style at that point. Make sure that you don't register for the same things on both registries.
HTH!

the small appliance stuff is really all I registered for..

and even that I'm not thrilled with..

for instance my coffe maker...

the one I liked was $300, but figured no one would buy it.

There was another one for $150 that wasn't terrible... but it didn't come in stainless.

Then I got frustrated and put one for $75 on my list that was black because I couldn't find a reasonable one I liked.

Now I just deleted it..

that's pretty much how this has been going with everything.

haha, I feel your pain. I am in love with teh breand Nambe, with their wood and stainless steel combo, but its so expensive.

I say register for that $300 coffee maker. Two or 3 of your friends may go in together to get you an expensive gift. Don't register for anything you don't love...you can always buy that coffee maker with gift money fro the wedding if no one buys it.

Of course, try and put other affordable items on the list, but don't feel like you have to put things on there just BECAUSE they are affordable. If someone spends $75 on coffee maker you don't like then they are wasting their money aren't they?

That's my opinion!

Don't think that!! You never know, and people like to team up and get expensive gifts together. Start putting the things you like on there and you have a good chance of getting them.

trust me I have the expensive stuff too..

$500 for pots/pans
$200 for bedding.
$250 standing mixer
etc.

So I figured with everything else I should go cheaper.. otherwise everytone on my list would be over $150... should I just leave it that way?

ITA. don't register for things you don't love. i was doing this at first because i felt bad putting expensive stuff on my registry, but eventually i was like screw it, let's see what happens....and it turns out people will get you what you want. my aunt and 2 cousins went in together to get my stand mixer, and i'm sure the same will happen with my more expensive items at the shower. plus, we got a bunch of gift cards that we were able to put together to buy bigger stuff too.

i am registered at 3 places, but 2 of them only have like a handful of items. crate and barrel is my big registry.

I went totally overboard. My BBB registry is like 20 pages lone. I put everything i ever wanted on there. I know i wont get half the stuff on there but you get anything left on your registry for a huge discount after your wedding. So i figure whatever people dont buy me i will buy for myself .

I think I have like 45-50 people on the guest list for the shower and we registered at 3 places:

Crate and Barrel
Bed Bath and Beyond
Macys

Originally it was just 2 (CB and Macys) but I saw a lot of things I registered for at Macys were cheaper in BB&B so I switched it to there. Macys has a few things on it and the bulk of everything else is on the other 2 registeries.

My theory is: Give people choices. Just because you register for stuff does not mean you are going to get it and people have different spending limits so it's nice to give a variety of stuff in different price ranges.
