Are they necessary? My fancier flatware has a 3-piece (serving fork, cake server, ladle) and 4-piece (serving spoon, slotted serving spoon, butter knife, sugar spoon). Originally I added both, but now I'm thinking about deleting 1 or both. Any thoughts? I think I'd rather that $150 go elsewhere and use our everyday serving pieces. If I was to get rid of 1, which would you girls eliminate? We re also registered for the cake knife/server in the same pattern.

I didn't register for any hostess set. They were all very pricey and I wasn't too crazy about them. I think my mom did get us some though from Homegoods, not from BBB or Macy's.

I added both (and plan on keeping both). I think in the long run you will be happy to have them.
