Ok ladies I know we have all seen the 'official' list of registries - you know what you 'should' be registering for BUT
what is everyone going for these days?
Can one register for a new TV rather that China? (just an example)
lets open up a serious discussion on what we really need rather than what some might want us to register for!
and will you REALLY give it a shot at the registry!

Re: Registry Must Haves
Since me and FH already have been living together for 2 years we have EVERYTHING. So I did register for china and all that stuff because I wasn't getting that for myself. But as far as stuff that I want versus what I need, we are registering for a bbq. I'm not so sure about the TV but you know what, register for it and if no one buys it, then at least you'll get the 10% off after you get married! I keep seeing that BPs are getting the bride her bedroom furniture for her shower, now did she register for this? If so, why can't you register for a TV? Your registry is supposed to be a wish list, it is not set in stone that people have to buy it for you and remember that someone will only have something to say about what you registered for, like my FMIL! JMO.

Re: Registry Must Haves
i don't know about a t.v.--lol that might be pushing it.
i think HM registries are really catching on since a lot of couples already live together before marriage and have 2 of everything as it is. if you have a HM registry--people can buy stuff for you to enjoy on your HM.
as for registering for non-typical items--i think it might be a bit much to put things like a tv or your favorite jewelry or perfume. i think guests would think that you are being presumptuous and greedy. JMHO
ETA: just wanted to say that our registries are pretty standard--only cause we are not living together b4 marriage and need EVERYTHING! LOL

FH and I live together and have everything, so we registered for things we just wanted...i.e. , my pressurized wine storage fridge, etc.

Re: Registry Must Haves
Well a regstry is a wish list, I have a Dyson there and it costs as much as a small TV so why not? FH and I have been living together for almost 5 years so we have a lot, We are registering for fancy china, crystals and small appliances (food processor, waffle maker etc...) If you want to put a tv there why not, the worst that can happen is someone not buy it so who cares... XOXOXO Kitty

I just went to Macy's to register. I don't know if it is a must have but I saw a Bocce Ball set ($75) and I really hope someone buys it!!

Re: Registry Must Haves
Me and FH have been living in separate apartments for years, planning to move together this August. We basically have everything. Im not doing a registry. I don't want gifts, if you know what I mean. I will save the registry thing for when we buy a home after the wedding.

Re: Registry Must Haves
FH and I don't live together (still live at home to save the $$) so we registered for the 'regular' stuff since we have nothing!

Re: Registry Must Haves
we too are registering for all the 'usual' stuff. We have nothing!
So, cookware, bakeware, kitchen appliances, fine china, everyday dishes, flatware, glassware, stemware, bedding... as we get closer and have a better idea of where we'll be living, we'll probably register for some small furniture and home decor at a place like Pier 1.
For fun, I added an electric massager and a massaging foot bath to our BB&B registry. Oh, and also a nice full luggage set. not so exciting to most, but it makes me happy

I live by myself now but just have the bare necessities. FH and I are closing on our house in about two weeks and are just going to deal w/what I have for now and registry for everything else. We're going to register for the 'norm' but I want a Dyson too!!
