Registry prices???

Registry prices???

I registered at Macys and when I did, the prices seemed reasonable. I am looking back now and don't think I would have registered for my fine dining if it was its reg 145 per 4pc set. Do registries keep the prices from when you register or are they subject to change like everything else? It seems like I'm materialistic looking at how much each gift is listed for and I don't think I am. What do you girls think or know about this???

I think Macy's 'regular' prices are inflated... What china did you register for? Probably what you registered for is reasonable. If you're worried about seeming materialistic, register for less expensive crystal and frames and such.....

I registered for the mikasa platinum square set.. i don't remember how much it was but i'm sure if i saw 145 I wouldn't have picked it b/c i wouldn't expect guests to spend that much, though it would be nice....hehehehe

even my pressure cooker set was like 180 and I wouldn't pay that much for myself let alone for a bridal shower...

not sure if i should change stores but macys is easy for my ny relatives to get too...not so much for friends in fl. I'm thinking about adding target/bbb or home depot...hmmmm

Check out Bed, Bath and Beyond's prices. I hear they're cheaper for China.

I had the same things with these great robes from Macy's. They're usually $145 each, but on sale they're $99 each. Either way, no one bought them for me. But if you have them on there after your wedding, you'll still get the completion bonus, so I say leave it on no matter what.

Plus, doesn't Macy's give you coupons to give to friends/relatives who you know will be buying you certain items when you register? Is one for China? Maybe that helps a bit?

the registry just lists your stuff together it doesnt 'freeze' your prices - when you registered they were probably on sale

china goes on sale all the time so maybe your guests can catch another great deal- i am registering this november so whenever my stuff goes on sale they will just pick it up and store it until they can give it to me ( i only know this bc we have done it for all my relatives)

but anyway, people realize china is expensive . . .i wouldnt worry too much about it

HTH!

Prices on your registry are subject to changes.

Also, $149 for a place setting is actually not bad. I know people who have registered for $300+++ besides most people sent between $100-$150 for a wedding present. Also, if they think it's expensive then they will just choose not to buy it.

Also, look at BBB....they have a lot more sales than MACY's

My 5 piece place setting retails for $158. It was $78.99 until Sunday. On Monday it went back up to $158. Today it is $109. It's absolutely ridiculous. My flatware went from $55 to $95 a place setting. Bed, Bath, and Beyond seems better... their prices are lower and consistent. When my registry prices went up on Sunday I moved a lot of things to the BBB registry.

You can always change your registry.. My mom and FMIL bought me all of my china

I'd definitely chck out Bed Bath and Beyond. They have the same brands and patterns of china but for A LOT less than Macy's. Even Macy's 'sale' prices are more expensive than BB&B's regular prices.

Re: Registry prices???

Macy's is funny with their pricing. My china regular price there is $158, which i refused to register for because it was so expensive. At BBB it's $110. But my mom was in Macy's one day and told me to put my china on the registry because it was on sale for 50% off...like $78/each. So what I wound up doing is putting half the china on macys, half on BBB. I wound up getting all of my place settings!!! However, the china accessories are much cheaper at BBB, even when they are on sale at Macy's. Definitely look around...you'll get used to what different things cost if you do some research.

I know what you mean about feeling materialistic though. Their prices are high, but they have good sales....like better sales than BBB's 20% off coupons. When the stuff is not on sale (like right now I have a $400 suitcase on there) i want to take it off because people must think i'm such a snot!

If this helps...my mom always reminds me it's a wish list and nothing more! People don't have to buy off of it, ya know?

Def. register at BBB. It's very convenient. People can always purchase things online with them as well. And if anybody registers for their mailing list they send you 20% off coupons there all the time. I don't know if I'd register at Target. I had a friend register there and their inventory is always changing, so it's hard to make sure the bedding or toaster that you love will still be there in a couple of months-Just a thought.

Registry prices do change from time to time. I registered at Fortunoffs and some people got my china at Macys (if it was cheaper) and just called Fortunoffs to take it off. I say you should register for what you want. People will spend what they want or chip in together.

This is true. Last year, my cousin's china was on sale at Fortunoff for less than half of what Macy's was selling it for so people bought it at Fortunoff and had it removed.

A lot of these stores (Fortunoff, Macys) price match to a competitors price as well.

The prices for my China are the same everywhere I looked. I registered at Fortunoff. I even checked the LEnox Outlet and the price is the same as when it goes on sale.

I went to the Mikasa store in the Tanger Outlets.....It is NOT an outlet store. Everything is perfect. I got my china for a fraction of the cost. My mom told me thats what she wanted to get me so I found it there and got an amazing deal during a sale and she had the coupon booklet for like 20% off. See if anywhere like that has something you like. You never know what you might find.

Prices do change, though I'm basing this on my Fortunoff registry (which is the only one I had.)

Macy's prices can be high but they just had a huge home sale and things we discounted. They had buy one china place setting and get a soup bowl for free. They also had buy 2 flatware sets and get one free and a silverware case. So sometimes it does help. The China I picked is the same price at Bed Bath and Beyond, Macy's had more pieces available and all Macy's stores carry it.

Bed Bath and Beyond is much cheaper for china and you can use your 20% off coupons for CHINA in store only though! how exciting is that!

I just did major registering at Macy's and was noticing the price difference too, sometimes they show the sale, sometimes they do not...also depending on when i sign on they dont always list the sale price on my registry. I am slightly concerned but i really like waht I picked out there so I am just going to hope for the best.
